The Singer in the Suburbs
It was a moderately nice day outside. The wind was nothing more than a gentle breeze that pushed the fallen maple leaves along the sidewalk. The afternoon sun was half obscured by clouds that kept everything from behind too hot.
That is, until the sound of something rolling at high speeds broke the tranquility. Soon after the sound was heard, a certain blond skater whirled around the corner.
He was having a great day, with the weekend upon him, he wouldn't have to worry about school at all for a few days. Beat usually spent this time out on his board like this, working up a sweat and letting out all the stress that had piled up over the course of the week.
He was momentarily distracted when he heard a quiet voice singing a few soft notes. Thankfully, Beat was skilled enough on the board to veer out of the way off a storm drain--he'd been skating down the street. However, this only caused his board to hit a large piece of concrete from the sidewalk. This sent Beat yelling--and flying--through the air.
