So my thesis advisor and I ended up discussing Jane Austen movie adaptations
and she mentioned how much she hates the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility.
So now of course all I want to do is watch it. Even though I know it's stupid long.
Have I mentioned I'm writing my thesis in political science?
Wow this is so Christian I can't even deal
"This is the currently used, so called 'literary' viewpoint. It is sometimes mistakenly identified as omniscient viewpoint, that is, the view of the Lord. Patently it is no such thing, for the Lord assuredly sees and knows everything at once, which is an impossibility for a mere human writer, who can see and describe only one thing at a time."
This book on the basic techniques of plot is like some sort of very Christian 1957 version of Night Vale to be honest...
"Now, 'dog' is already in our scheme of things, because we know what that is. Rather, we know where he is- mine is over yonder by the sofa, asleep on the rug just now- not one of us can safely say we know what he is. My own dog, again for example, has sometimes been mistaken for a door mat."
"Note, if you will, that the First Commandment is also a rule for writers: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." If that does not establish the primacy of the first person, "me," of the subjective, and of the Indwelling God who is within us all, and who urges us constantly to creative expression, then I cannot read plain English."
Like okay dude.
I just accidentally hit myself in the face with a textbook. Whoever said "hit the books, they don't hit back" was lying.
