OH OH YAYYYY PEOPLE ASKED ABOUT MY INFECTION AU YAYYYY

under the cut so the post isnt too long for people who dont wanna read it

okay so its like a zombie infection au thingy. i dont have all the things down yet, but heres the gist

so sandy was experimenting w chemistry or whatever, and accidentally created a virus that infected her. in her protective suit, she went to spongebob to ask for help, but refused to let him touch her or whatever. spongebob went to ask plankton (another scientist he knew) to see if maybe they could come up w a cure. spongebob then went to tell squidward and patrick not to visit sandy at the tree dome. squidward, who was used to spongebobs crazy antics, went to go prove to spongebob that there was nothing wrong and entered the tree dome. when he left, sandy says something along the lines of "you better hope youre not infected squidward."

lo and behold, he was infected and spread the virus to others in bikini bottom. think of how the walking dead was set up, but a bit different

ANYWAY!! the tree dome is where they keep the infected ones who havent gone insane yet and tried to kill and eat other people, so maybe they can be saved. theres also a safe shelter for people who havent been infected but need somewhere safe to stay, near the tree dome.

i have different statuses for each of the main characters and some of the background characters! feel free to ask! but since you asked about spongebob specifically:

spongebob: currently infection free. he's incredibly empathetic to the residents of bikini bottom who have been completely taken over by the infection. he's not allowed too far outside the shelter because a lot of times he takes risks trying to save people who've either been infected or are about to get infected. he assists plankton with science stuff, but mostly stuff like keeping track of vials and stuff. also because it gives him the opportunity to see sandy, and he misses her really bad. only sometimes goes into the tree dome, under intense supervision by plankton.
