Growing up I played most sports and competed in many areas. They called it a “natural talent”. When I’m being honest with myself, I will tell you that I never truly worked hard for any of it. My participating was always good enough to win or receive some sort of recognition. As an adult, I teach my kids to not play if they can’t commit to putting forth the effort needed to be great. We have a generation that has accepted credit for participating in exchange for hard work. Everyone one on the team gets a trophy or certificate (even the one that’s late to practice daily or sometimes doesn’t show). It took someone that I love and respect to point out that adult “Marlo is a lazy thinker”. It took a minute to resonate, but it was true. Because I never really had to work hard for success, I just kind of moved about taking the small wins. The little effort I gave was always just enough or more than the others to make me stand out. I have finally got to a point in my life where I recognize myself and have been blessed to be a part of some amazing teams that know the true meaning of hard work, dedication and commitment. They push and inspire me to do more and be better and lead by example. The early mornings, late nights and all day meetings don’t go unnoticed. As a result, HISTORY WAS MADE. The first ever Christian Hip Hop Radio station to ever be nominated for @thestellars award AND WIN!!! @emceenicela had a vision for @gh3radio and he executed that with @womenspigskin I am so honored to be a part of this moment for you.
