That text post you made a little bit ago was kinda comforting to me... I share a lot of the same feelings about how people respond to 'negativity' (i.e., expressing emotions beyond 'lolbuttsexotp'). Even things like disagreeing with an opinion earn you the 'trash' label around here. Folks on this site are way too damn touchy and quick to dismiss someone over minor things or for deviating from 'happy, funny, engaged 24/7". Ironic for such an 'accepting' place, huh...

My thoughts exactly. Tumblr is full of hypocrites. It’s funny how the same people who rail against ableism and discriminating against people because of mental disorders are the same people who constantly post shit about how you should “eliminate negative people from your life” because you don’t need them. And I would agree with the latter sentiment if what they meant was people who are negative towards you and constantly try to bring you down. But they mean any sort of negativity at all. Being constantly down on yourself is kind of a big symptom of Depression. So shouldn’t these “accepting” SJW’s try to help or comfort people who openly express these emotions instead of dismissing them as horrible misanthropes who are never happy about anything?

Like you said, another thing that falls into their broad definition of “negativity” is daring to have a dissenting opinion about something. Ironically, the people who have actually been the kindest and most accepting of me here are people who have been labeled as huge bitches for exactly this reason. Maybe it is my background in message boards, but I think that is probably the single fucking stupidest thing about tumblr culture as a whole. I thought the entire point of fandom, or any sort of communication, was to engage in discussions of depth that may potentially challenge your world views and help you grow as a person. I’ve had friends who were pro-life, anti-gay marriage, anti-gun control, etc. I am never going to agree with them on those issues, but that does not mean that we cannot be civil to each other about our differences and continue to bond over mutual interests. But here? How DARE you make a post that goes against the tumblr hive-mind? Cue the hate anons, unfollowers, and passive aggressive posts by those who miraculously decided to stick around!

Thankfully I havent seen much of this, or at least I dont pay attention. Janes character WAS poorly writen in the first film which was such a shame cause I adore Portman. Im nervous about her being in asgard but Ill keep an open mind.

As for Loki - honestly, I dont care much. Im much more interested in Thor for this movie. Loki had his spotlight in the avengers. Im just gonna laugh my ass off if he winds up having a beard tho omg

Thor is my favorite, but I love Loki almost as much, so it's hard for me to pick sides in most of the arguments I see, not that I actually want to pick one, but yeah. It's annoying to have to watch the fans fight about characters that I love almost equally much.

It seemed to resurface when those new gifs of Loki and the Other came out a couple of days ago. And I bet we'll still hear about it from time to time even after the second Thor movie is out. It's one of those things that seems to cause a lot of anger in the fandom.

Just cold water and some lotion my mom gave me. I didn't get blisters or anything, but the skin of my thighs is red and it hurts if I touch it. I've never spilled my coffee in the 15 years I've been drinking it and the first time I do it, I do it all over my goddamn crotch xD

I dont see too much of that but jeez, they just enjoy the fuss! I tend to ignore most of those opinions especially since some are just idiotic. I respect other peoples views but clearly we disagree on some of them. Its a talk to the hand attitude.

It does seem like the people who participate in a lot of fandom wank and run hate blogs etc. must get some kind of satisfaction out of it. Or they just can't deal with people having a different opinion. I don't know :S

I just try to ignore it. thankfully not much wank has gotten on my dash but its annoying as hell. i just want to see the movie, i could give two shits about loki pictures etc. and the mind control thing is back? this is why we cant have nice things

I'm eager to see Loki because I love him almost as much as I love Thor, but my world isn't going to end if I don't see a picture of him before the movie comes out. I'm excited about the whole movie, not just one part of it. I'm looking forward to seeing Thor, Loki, Frigga, Odin, the W3 and Sif and the new villains, but especially Thor :)

Im just trying to ignore it like some other folks have mentioned. Part of the reason Ive latched onto some other fandoms so heavily recently is because Im sick of the Thor fandoms wankery. Ive never been part of such an angry fandom before!

Yeah, it's a really angry fandom :S It's even wankier than the La Liga part of the football fandom that had the Real Madrid vs Barca rivalry, which was my previous fandom. But I don't think it was this bad when I got into Thor 1+ year ago. It almost feels like the anger levels rose gradually and they keep getting worse, which means it's getting harder to avoid the wank and try to have fun. I also feel like the rise of the online SJW culture has made Tumblr as whole a much angrier place.

I feel your pain. People are such condescending bastards and I think everyone has the right to enjoy what they enjoy and not give someone else shit for that. Im actually waiting to see Iron Man 3 because then Thor 2 trailer, woohoo!

Heh, the Thor trailer is basically the only reason why I'm not completely "meh" about seeing Iron Man 3. (I was not impressed with IM2) And there are a ton of opinions in the fandom that I don't agree with, but I don't feel a need to call people idiots for having them. Unless they're shoving their theories and opinions directly to my face, I can just let them be and have their theories.

Lol it happened right in front of my parents and I was jumping up from the sofa and yelling "my crotch is burning!!!" and they were just fussing about the sofa which also got a big coffee stain on it.
