In "The Tapes," we follow Kai's unsettling journey as they receive mysterious tapes that seem to be recordings of their own voice. As they unravel the enigma behind these tapes, they find themselves immersed in a world of confusion, paranoia, and unreality. Will they be able to uncover the truth before it's too late? You'll have to listen to find out!

My Review:

I don't usually watch local TV shows because the plot usually doesn't catch my attention. But when I saw the trailer for this while I was watching the news, I was intrigued. Movies like Heneral Luna (2015), Goyo (2018) , Buy Bust (2018) , and Eerie (2018) impressed me so much, so I had high hopes for this one because the plot looked unique. 

Of  course, the “mysterious occult” is not new, because the Westerners have done this before, but I don’t think we’ve ever done anything like this before. 

And it definitely paid off! My only complaint about this show was that each episode only had about 25-27 minutes, and the whole season only had 6 episodes. That's just a 3-hour movie! But I think if they made it longer, they’ll lose the mystery because the story is enough to catch your attention, but doesn’t give too much that it’s predictable. So maybe this was done on purpose, and maybe I’m complaining because I just want more of this. It’s worth watching.

The start was pretty creepy and forked up and even though there’s drama, it's not the main focus of the story. I also like the subtlety of the details and the music score. The thing that I loved the most about this show is the opening. I love their choice of music, the way they introduced the cast--everything. And there were parts that were funny, but it didn’t seem forced as well, it seemed natural. 

Speaking of the cast, I was surprised that Sam Milby was a part of it because I haven’t seen him in any new movies, and he really impressed me. It was a different side of Sam Milby. I have also never heard of Yassi Pressman before until I watched this show, and I just have to say that she looks like the Filipino Emilia Clarke, and she was also pretty amazing, there was a scene with some action, and she really pulled it off. 

Overall, I think this show is worth watching, and I’m excited to see more of it and see how the story progresses.
