U planinama u okolini Jerihona se nalazi puno pećina, za koje crkvena tradicija kaže da je tu Isus boravio tokom 40-dnevnog boravka u pustinji, tokom kojeg je bio iskušavan. Pre mnogo vekova je na ovom mestu izgrađen manastir, kojeg do danas posećuje puno ljudi. Čak trojica od evanđelista pišu o ovom događaju, čime nam daju primer Hristov, koji treba da sledimo. Đavo je iskušavao Isusa, citirajući pritom čak i Reč Božju, ali čitamo da Isus nije zgrešio. Reč Božju danas čak i hrišćani vrlo površno čitaju, čime postaju lak plen za neprijatelja. Sam Isus je govorio i upozoravao o dolasku mnogih lažnih učitelja koji će isto tako citirajući Reč Božju pokušati da zavedu one koji su u Isusa uzverovali. Tražimo Boga svakog dana, približimo se Njemu, jer nam je obećano da kada se mi približimo Bogu, i Bog će se približiti nama. In the mountains around Jericho there are a lot of caves, for which the Church tradition says is the place where Jesus stayed during his 40-day desert experience, during which he was tempted. Many centuries ago a monastery was built here, which is still visited by many people. Three of the Gospel authors write about the experience of Jesus, and give us His example, which we should follow. The devil tempts Jesus by quoting the Scriptures, but we read that He did not sin. Today, even many Christians read the Bible in a very shallow way, not knowing really what the Bible says, by which they succumb to temptations more easily. Jesus Himself warned us about the coming of false teachers who would also quote the Scriptures, but would try and cause even the elect to stumble. Let us draw closer to God each day, for it is promised to us that if we come closer to God, he will come closer to us.
