Why are you so upset? It's just a tweet. And then he deleted it. Nbd If he assumed that he was Finn, Then so be it. But look even me can recognize that he was Bellamy . Oh well... Sorry you feel that way! The picture is great tho! ✌🏽️
Hey there! I’m going to answer this publicly because it’s something I would like my followers to see and understand. I hope you don’t mind! For those of you who didn’t see it, this is the tweet in question.
There are several reasons that the tweet upsets me. For one, tbh, nothing JR tweets is “just a tweet” because of his position on the show. He is a public figure, with like 40k + followers, so when all of those people see him poking fun at an artist’s work or a ship people are passionate about, they can interpret it in several ways:1. JR dislikes Bellarke and/or Bellarke shippers
Obviously, you can say “it was just one tweet” or “it was a joke in poor taste” or whatever, and before today I would have agreed with you. Hell, I would have probably said that myself. But, frankly, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He’s ALWAYS poking fun at Bellarke shippers and being rude and disrespectful to his fans, and I’m tired of defending him.
2. Since JR hates Bellarke, we should all hate Bellarke too and start poking fun at them about how even the creator of the show hates their ship!!!!
Don’t even try to tell me this didn’t happen, because it did. That is EXACTLY what happened, thanks to his tweet. Mr “#onefandom” isn’t really doing a good job of staying neutral/not taking sides in shipping wars, is he?
“Nbd If he assumed that he was Finn, Then so be it.”
This is another reason the tweet upsets me so much. Because, you see, the thing is - he DIDN’T assume it was Finn. He KNEW it was Bellamy, he KNEW it was a Bellarke drawing. And yes, I can confirm this, because:1. The person he RT’d the drawing from tagged it as #Bellarke2. He tagged Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor in his response.
Not only did he purposefully take a stab at the artist (though he claims it was unintentional, apparently, as he told the artist he really did like the drawing later on when she tweeted him to tell him she was the artist), but he also tagged the actors in question in it. If that wasn’t meant to show he did indeed know it was supposed to be Bellarke, idk what the hell the point of it was. He knew what kind of an effect said tweet would have on the fandom.
Anyway. The main thing is: JR needs to stop being so rude to his fans. He claims to be neutral on the subject of ships, but more and more of his tweets belittle Bellarke shippers while propping up others. If he’s going to have his own public twitter account, he needs to be professional about it and ACTUALLY be neutral. I understand completely that some people go WAY TOO FAR in their tweets about characters or ships or whatever, and yes, that sucks. But you know what? Tough cookies. That’s the life of a popular TV show runner. He’s going to have crazy fans. He can either deal with them in a professional manner, not interact with them at all, or hire a PA who will actually know how to not offend people.
So, to answer your question, to me it’s not just a tweet. JR needs to grow the hell up.
