THE UNION. After the museum, the wife found a place to eat. She said they had sandwiches and burgers. She didn't tell me the name or any other details. I was expecting an old rundown coffee shop with dingy red diamond tuck booths and an old grease stained formica lunch counter (that's just what came to mind). Boy, was I wrong. The Union turned out to be one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The place had a cool industrial vibe. The menu conveyed high quality well prepared food and a nice variety of beers. Heather, our server, was friendly, enthusiastic, and very knowledgable. Her charming personality sold us on the lunch special which included a chilled cantaloup soup. She told us the cantaloup came from local growers (I told ya she was knowledgable). I'm not a cantaloup fan but decided to go for it anyways. It was excellent. Everything was fresh and tasted great together. It really felt like the entire meal was "composed" by an artist. They even included a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. I asked Heather for a beer recommendation and after a short consultation (did I mention she's quite knowledgable?), she brought out two tasters. It was hard to choose but I got the Total Domination from Ninkasi Brewing. It was one of the best beers I ever had. I actually finished the entire glass (Being a lightweight, this is significant, plus I didn't have to drive that day). Heather told us about the background of the restaurant and their future plans. If this weekday lunch is an example of their handiwork, I think they're in for a successful venture. Although the food and environment were outstanding, Heather was most impressive. She's honest and genuine. Two qualities I greatly respect. (On another note, if I lived in the area, I'd ask her to do a photo shoot.) 😀 @theunioncarson @ninkasibrewing #theunioncarson #samsanchez #carsoncity #nevada #totaldominationipa #ninkasibrewingcompany
