you don't have to let it go. perceived flaws don't necessarily equate to something being damaged, unlovable, or untouchable. this is, in fact, a massive theme throughout the book -- just because fitz copes with anger does not make him vilified.
just because keefe's parents disregard and abuse him does not make their words hold any truth.
just because sophie looks different than the people that surround her and originally comes from a different place does not make her unacceptable.
just because tam has a rigid exterior does not make him unlovable.
just because linh greets the world with sincerity and peace does not make her weak.
just because dex and his family break the social norms of what is deemed "acceptable" does not actually mean they are "less than".
just because biana has scars and chooses to show them to the world rather than hide them to protect a stranger's comfort does not make her a dishonor or an eye sore.
a piece of media does not have to be and can never be entirely perfect. we are all human, we are all unique, we all see different sides to the exact same piece. what may very well seem like a totally flat and transparent pane to you could be a rainbow cube to another person. it all depends on the eyes that take a glance.
