A year had passed since the fierce battle for the lonely mountain, many bones of the fallen victims still lay on the once bloodied battlefield. Those who lived did what they could to give their fallen brethren a proper goodbye however so many had lost their lives that it was impossible. The dwarfs of Erebor and the Iron Hills gave the Durin Blood line burial withhonor inside the mountain however only two graves were dug that day. One of the nephews bodies, Kili’s, could not be found. Many presumed that it may have fallen down the mountain not to be seen again, others think that his body mayhave been buried by the she-elf in a place only she knew about. Whichever story they believed in, all of them hoped that soul was at rest with his brother and uncle. As days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, the dwarfs done what they could to restore the mountain to its former glory. They also helped the men of dale to rebuild their home and in honour of Thorin and his party, made many statues in commemorate the bravery and for help return the mountain to its rightful owners. Life had finally became peaceful once more for the people of Erebor and Dale however this was soon to change.
A hooded figure made their way though the narrow streets of Dale, pushing past people who were going about their daily lives. The streets were more alive than they ever had been. Many market stalls full of fresh produce and trinkets of all kinds had been built . The shouts of many sales men could be heard above the constant chit-chat of people as they walked by. The hooded figure was able to silently make their way out of the market and out to the edge of town, towards their real destination, the lonely mountain. It had been over a year since they’d seen this path towards its great doors, multiple memories came flooding back into their head, most of them were memories they did not want to remember. They had lost so much that day that they couldn’t face going back to their kin, to this day they felt that it should have been them that had died in battle not their family. The dark figure clenched their fist to try to hold back the tears that were forming.
As they finally approached the gate, dwarf guards stopped them in their tracks.
“What buisness do you have here?” One asked, in a gruff voice.
This was it. No more running. It was time to face the truth. Time return to the place that not so long ago, they were trying to defend. It was time, to return home.
“I am Kili, the lost nephew of Thorin Oakensheild. and I am here to reclaim my uncles throne.”
The guard did not speak. He simply nodded up to the gates-man whom opened up the grand doors of Erebor. “Follow me.” He grumbled and he escorted him towards the throne room where a familiar face would be waiting for him.
