The Lowline - A park underneath New York City

The Lowline, is a plan to use innovative solar technology to illuminate an historic trolley terminal on the Lower East Side of New York City. The vision is a stunning underground park that provides a beautiful respite and a cultural attraction in one of the world’s most dense, exciting urban environments.

This hidden historic site is located in one of the least green areas of New York City, presenting a unique opportunity to reclaim unused space for public good. Natural light would be directed below ground using fiber optics described as "remote skylight" to provide an area in which trees and grass could be grown beneath the city streets.

We look forward to hearing James Ramsey, Co-Founder & Creator of The Lowline and inventor of Remote Skylight explain his vision at this year’s Farm to Fork.

Brooklyn Brewery

Brooklyn Brewery, started out as a small venture among two neighbors in Park Slope in 1984, and is now an international success and a world renown beer and brand.  Listen to the Co-Founder, President and former war correspondent Steve Hindy when he talks about his endeavors in the brewing business and starting a company in Brooklyn in the early 1980's, at this year's From Farm to Fork.

The High Line Park

The High Line was built in the 1930's to lift freight traffic 30 feet in the air, removing dangerous trains from the streets of Manhattan, and was in use until 1980.

In 1999 Friends of the High Line was founded to advocate for the High Line's preservation and reuse as public open space, and in September 2014 the third and northenmost section of the park was opened to the public.
