A night of friendship & frivolity at the Staffordan Embassy.

In a time honoured tradition, the President of the United States of Simerica  accompanied by his wife attended the Stafford Embassy for the annual Stafford Gala to mark the Simerican Independence day hosted by the newly appointed Ambassador Dr Amber Montano and her wife Christy Bartlett

Located at the end of Embassy row in Washingsim City, the Ambassador’s residence is the Mecca in capitol real estate, making this the top job in the Staffordan diplomatic corp.

The friendship between these two great nations started during the Simerican War of Independence. The Simerican colonies were locked in a struggle to break free of the yoke of the tyrannical United Kingdom of Great Simtain. In an act of generosity and great heroism, King Nicholas I of Stafford sent his navy to defend Simerican waters and struck a decisive blow against their Simlish rivals, turning the war in favour of the fledgling Simerican nation.

This is the inaugural year for both President Cronin and the newly appointed Staffordan Ambassador Dr Amber Montano. Both are naturals in their respective roles.

After cordial introductions, the party moved upstairs to the Ambassador’s private study before the arrival of other guests. First Lady Cronin stopped to admire the many photographs arrayed at the top of the Grand Staircase. The photos of the “Print Hall” depict historical events from the embassy’s history and many include the Staffordan Royal Family on trips to Washingsim over the years. Amber Montano pointed out a personal favourite showing a young Queen Elizabeth her first official tour in Simerica shortly after her coronation.

Arriving in the Ambassador’s study, President Cronin asks Dr Montano how she is settling in to the Simerican way of life. The ambassador, having only arrived in the country, has not yet had the opportunity to sample Simerican customs or cuisine, but has heard the local lobster thermidor is to die for.

Shortly afterwards, the party greeted the evening’s guests – Staffordan and Simerican dignitaries, embassy staff and their families, and many among the great and good of Simerican society. Before sitting down to a gourmet meal, President Cronin toasts the health of the Staffordan Queen, reaffirming the “special relationship” between their two nations.

Once guests had eaten their fill, dancing and a cocktail reception took place in the embassy’s beautiful gardens. The evening brought to a close a successful week of Independence Day celebrations and was the perfect introduction for the new Staffordan Ambassador to her post.
