For the "send me a character" thing: we all know you have tons of things in common with Withnail, but what's something you have in common with Marwood?
!!!! oh God: um, I, like Marwood, tend to narrate what’s going on around me in my own head (and like Marwood’s - “drifting into the arena of the unwell”, anyone? - the voice of my internal monologue has a tendency towards being pretentious as shit); I wear glasses (although mine are decidedly not “like Lennon’s”); I grin when I’m nervous, like to think I can act, and would doubtlessly be magnificently crap at navigating my way through a holiday in the countryside. (That’s more than one thing, whoops.) So. <3
I would just like to say that your new Doc Martens are really really nice and (even as somebody who doesn't normally wear flowery stuff) I may or may not be a bit jealous?? so yeah, nice, very nice.
Ahhh, thank you, darling!! They were a necessity, since my ancient black DMs finally completed their threat to fall apart altogether yesterday morning; it was luck that the flowery set were on sale when I went in search of a replacement yesterday afternoon. I am a bit utterly in love with them, so. <3333
I was tagged by thewordsmithy. It's nice to know that people think of you when they think of things. That's a really cool thing. So thank you, Jude.
RULES:
Rule #1 always post the rules.
Rule #2 answer the questions the person who tagged you asked, then write 11 new ones.
Rule #3 tag friends then link them in the post.
Rule #4 tell them you tagged them.
1. If you could play any role in any musical, regardless of factors like vocal range, your sex/gender in relation to the character’s, or talent level required, what role would that be?
I'm a HUGE fan of musicals, so I can't even begin to imagine what I'd love to do. Maybe Eric (The Phantom) from Phantom. Beautiful music. Or Elphaba in Wicked. I'd also be perfectly happy being Marius once again.
2. What does your personal sense of humor tend to be like?
Very dry, very sarcastic. I used to be very soft-spoken and quiet in social settings, before I became much more open. I find that in settings with people who knew me when I was quiet, I am continuously subconsciously trying to show off the "new me", even if that me has been me for years. I try to prove myself because of my crippling insecurities, and one of those ways is through blurting out smart remarks quite frequently. Fortunately I have a quick wit, but sometimes the remarks are a little too smart.
3. Do you consider outer space to be part of nature? Have you even thought about this before? (I know I have.)
Well, I've been reading C.S. Lewis' Miracles, so it's something that I could probably talk about for an uncomfortable amount of time. I'd open by saying that there are several definitions of nature and natural to be considered. Long story short, however, I'll simply say "yes". Everything not supernatural is simply natural, and that includes outer space.
4. What is a word you find yourself using very frequently?
This changes all the time, like I imagine it does for most people. We learn a new word or get a new appreciation for the aesthetic of an old one, and suddenly we're using it everywhere. The writer in me personally avoids trying to use any given word too often, as it becomes repetitive and dull. "Precocious" is a word that comes to mind immediately. Honestly, if I looked over a script of my speech most days, I could likely point out many overly-syllabic words that I use often, but I don't, so I can't. Oh, but "sans" is another good one. I use that a lot.
5. In a similar vein, what is a word you spent a long time misusing until you found out you were using it incorrectly?
I'm sure that there is one, and I almost feel like there may be one right on the tip of my memory's tongue, but it's stuck there, rolling in mental saliva. I think the real question is "How many words am I still using now that I'm misusing?"
6. Think of the last book you read/film or show you watched/etc. Would you want to live in that story’s world?
Adventures in Odyssey is what I've been listening to all day. Surprise, surprise. A bunch of shuffling, followed by most of Album 57 to be precise. Obviously, I wouldn't hesitate for a millisecond to live in Odyssey. To be friends with Whit and Connie and Eugene, to visit Whit's End, use the Imagination Station, freak everyone out by how I know every minute detail of their lives, thwarting terrorists and evil corporations... it would be great.
7. What are your texting habits like?
I've only had a phone for less than a year now, and I don't really have many friends, so I don't text much. Most of my communication is done over my computer. Most of my texting is either to my parents or for work. Payton is the only person that I ever really text, and even then, it's pretty rare. As far as habits go, I use full grammar and punctuation.
8. Are you one of those people who act simultaneously egotistical and self-deprecating? If not, which of these extremes do you tend to lean towards?
I am absolutely one of those people. It's both comforting and worrying to come on tumblr and see that I'm not the only one. Not by a long shot. I used to think that I was only one. I was quite confused for a while about it, because I acted very prideful, but felt incredibly insecure. It took my an amount of time to see how I was trying to cancel them out against each other. I think my self-directed actions probably lean more towards self-deprecation. I imagine that they do for most of us, or at least, most of us on tumblr.
9. Do you like Oscar Wilde quotes? If so, which is your favorite?
I know I've heard a good number of Wilde quotes before, but absolutely none were coming to mind, so I googled some. Looking at the first pages on the quote site I found, I think that one that was the most prominent to me was "Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." This is probably because of what I just wrote about the "old me" and "new me". Namely, the point is that as I reshaped my personality to make myself more charismatic, I could see the personality traits that I stripped from other people to make my hodgepodge of a mask for people to gaze upon. Eventually, the mask fused to my face and we became one, like an unfortunate chemical reaction with a poorly-fabricated Halloween costume. Overall, Wilde was a very clever and witty man, from what I've seen.
10. What is an unpopular opinion you hold?
I'm sure there are many, especially depending on who it's unpopular to. I am, after all, both a Conservative Christian and an avid tumblr user. Those aren't too groups that often make the best bedfellows. because this is tumblr, it seems only fair that I answer the question with the respect there placed. An opinion I hold which is unpopular to tumblr is that I'm against abortion. I am a feminist, and my heart bleeds for the sufferings of my sisters around the world. I do believe that a woman's body is her own. I do not side with Hobby Lobby in their decision. However, I don't believe abortion is simply an issue of a woman's body alone, but of two bodies. I don't want to place more value on the baby's life than the mother's, and I recognize that this may often be the case with some legislators.I recognize that it's a terribly complicated issue, but I believe that in almost every situation, killing the baby is not the only way out. And it is a baby, a separate life form. It has a genetic code completely distinct to the mother's body, so biologically, I don't see how someone would argue otherwise. The thing is, though, equal attention needs to be put into supporting the mother as is put into ensuring the baby makes it to birth. That's the part that's neglected, and that is a big problem.
11. What is your favorite pet rodent?
I've never had a pet rodent, but probably a hamster, I guess? They're kinda fat and fuzzy and soft. I don't know.
That was really long. Sorry. Questions for people? Oh deary..
1. If you had to pick one TV show/book/radio show/movie/what-have-you to have a podcast about where you continually talked about it and analyzed it, what would you pick?
2. What is your favourite fandom/media piece, and why it is? How do you see yourself or your values or your dreams reflected in it?
3, If you could spend one day in a country with unlimited money for tourism and souvenirs, but you could never return to that place after the day was over, where would you go?
4. Do you believe that the ends justify the means?
5. Who is your favourite fictional character of all time, and why?
6. If you could ask one question of any person at any point in history, what would you ask, to whom, and why?
7. Do you believe that actual time travel (not just gravitational time dilation or weak stuff like that( is possible, or will ever be attained by man?
8. Do you believe that there will be a real apocalypse? Like, not just a lot of natural disasters coming, but a real, non-coincidental culmination of events resulting in the collapse of humanity.
9. What are your feelings on the validity of internet friendships? How many of your close friends are solely online? IRL? Both?
10. Who was your favourite teacher at school, and why?
11. Who am I to you? Not just in a nominal way, but personally. Whether you know me irl or not, what do you associate with Devon Francis? What memories or fandoms or emotions?

I went into the H2G2 tag to calm myself down because I was upset; this was the first thing I saw. I was not disappointed. I was in fact the opposite of disappointed.
I hope you're feeling happier and less upset now!
Oh man Sebastian, that's wonderful about you getting to go back to London!!! I was praying a lot for you yesterday and I'm so so happy that in two months you're going to be there and you won't have to live with your mother anymore and oh MAN i am so happy for you!!!!!
<33333 Thank you, darling!!!
I'm telling you this because you might be amused by it. I was indeed aware that Sid Vicious got his stage name because of Johnny Rotten's hamster, and this story is in fact the reason I am called Jude. My first hamster was called Jude (after the Beatles song), and I thought it was funny that Sid Vicious called himself after a hamster. So I thought it would be funny if I called myself Jude. I didn't realize how permanent that decision would be and now I'm named after a hamster.
This story has literally just blown my sister’s being named after Nancy Spungen out of the water holy hell Jude how on earth was I not aware of this. <333333
