I feel guilty 'hearting' this. I mean...she's dead.

Nah don’t feel guilty at all. She had lived a beautiful life (lots of beef and aliens though!). I was surprised she died of old age instead of illness since she got the flu and the mysterious disease (and these are pretty deadly in my game "thanks” to this mod).

If I were doing it, I'd provide the needed CC as a bundle alongside the neighbourhood files.

The only thing about bundling it is...what if someone doesn’t want all of it? Or what if they already have a lot of it? I mean, from what I understand, once CC is bundled, it’s not an easy process to un-bundle, and the Uni, especially, has a LOT of CC in the form of hood deco.

That it is! And thank you. :) It kind of got out of hand. I didn’t intend for it to be that big, but then I tend to go overboard, so.... I think I’d share it as a main hood, though. Unless people would prefer it as a uni template? Or maybe I’ll do both? Either way it’ll need to be finished with lots. I guess I’ll put out a general ask when the time comes that it’s ready for sharing.

It's just like a full hood. The hood folder and either include necessary cc or link to it.

Yeah, before I came over here to Tumblr, it dawned on me that there are predecorated-but-lotless terrains up for download at MTS. So, I downloaded one of those and, yep, the whole neighborhood folder. I’ll be including the CC, though, mostly because I have no clue where I got most of the stuff I have or who made it, so finding links would be problematic and time-consuming. :)

Considering English isn’t your mother tongue, I’d say being in the top 5.5% is pretty damn good! I’d wager you did better than most Americans would. Which is embarrassing, but there it is... If only we had a government that properly funded education instead of trying to fund private “Christian” schools via ridiculous “vouchers” in the name of “freedom of choice.” :P Buuuuuut that’s a rant for another time and place. *sigh*

Not on a Kindle, apparently. :( Or at least not on mine. I tried that and it just redirected to the mostly-broken app. It’s got an Amazon-proprietary operating system, so it has its weirdnesses that way. Although maybe if I deleted the mostly-useless app it’d work....Hmmm.

I’d already planned that, dear. :) Not sure if they’ll ever get married, though, because I’m going to wait for mutual wants in this neighborhood, and if they do I’m not sure which surname they’ll keep. (And hyphenating is just weird, IMO. I mean, what happens when two people with hyphenated last names get married? Do you keep all four names and then the next generation there’s eight names, then sixteen, then....?) *ahem* Anyway, she might not be a “Choi.” :) If she ever exists. :)

So far? Well, I have played their household for a season now, and I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say they mostly ignore each other. *laugh* Carmine and Sydney get along like a house on fire, though. Just platonically, because they’re both gay, but...Yeah, they’re buddies. Josie’s just kind of off in her own world, so far.

I saw the logo and thought: Fire Island, how old school!

Yeah, that was actually kind of why I liked the name in Esperanto. Because speakers of English and the Romance languages are going to see “fire” in the name, and it’s kind of appropriate since I plopped a volcano on it. OR there’s the connotation of “flaming” gay men. All this even though the word has nothing to do with fire in Esperanto, except maybe in a figurative sense. Pride in being who you are could be seen as a sort of internal fire that can either make you warm and confident and glowing from the inside or burn you up if there’s too much of it, I suppose. So it works all around, I guess.

Yeah, that’s the “alien experiments” mod. They can be turned into supernaturals or another kind of outcome instead of always knocked up. As much as I adore alien babies, I also like the variety the mod brings.

That's so cool! What a good name, I've always named all my hoods in Latin and they sound.. old. Might switch them to Esperanto!

It’s a pretty cool language. It sounds familiar, yet it’s different and, yes, it doesn’t sound “old.” It was created to be an international standard language, so it pulls from most of the world’s major languages, making it easier for more people to learn. Duolingo offers a course, and I’ve put it on my list to learn, after I finish the Russian course. And then the Welsh course.

This is the fourth installment of my family history background set and the last. With Gabe I leave the second generation of the Lombardo family and enter the third, and the plots and families become too tangled to summarize. Gabe is a major character in Intermezzo even if he never shows up alive (not saying he won’t) so he belongs here.

Rereading some of the old stuff I wrote about this guy makes miss him. I think I’m going to post 2 short old chapters here. Very old and cranky and rough but right now given the whole world, so what if sims stuff isn’t perfect.

The Lombardo Family

Gabe Lombardo

"The Legendary Gabe" - a title his third generation teenage cousin Autumn Taylor mockingly calls him. He looms within the family, his persona inescapable, his reputation mythologically glamorous. Like most myths, a lot of it is total shit.

Raised by a distracted father after the death of his mother, Gabe learned early how to take care of himself. He was more attached to his Uncle Tony than he was to his own father. When Gabe managed to retrieve his uncle’s real son, he did not adjust well to the loss of that semi-paternal attention. He was young, and the loss was unexpected, and he resented Rafe from the beginning.

Camilla, only a year older, lived in the same neighborhood and they were close from as far back as he could remember. She was virtually his sister. He found her amusing but intimidating, challenging and maddening, and absolutely trustworthy. She might refuse to join him and would mock him, as he would her, but they laughed a lot and she never let him down. From childhood to the day he disappeared Gabe considered her the only friend he ever had.

Apart from Camilla, Gabe had one longstanding relationship, a romantic one with a girl he dated from the time they were young teens, someone he fought Rafe for and eventually won – Amanda. He never broke it off, always returned, knew she loved him and may have loved her as well. When he disappeared he left without saying goodbye, but he knew he was in trouble and he left her with regret.

Intelligent, analytical, cool under pressure, tied in with everything and everybody, physically stunning and charismatic, he could be dangerous to cross. He was also a lot of fun as long as you remembered he was sort of a sociopath. Gabe was a gambler and a con-man and a minor thief. He enjoyed himself immensely when causing chaos or helping Camilla to crash or wreck or solve something difficult.

There was that time though when he rescued a little girl lost on a beach, knowing he was probably asking for trouble, not knowing he would change her whole life, her family’s life, the lives of many people, a whole web of people in many different ways with that one act of mercy. He gave her his knife to hold when she demanded to see a sword since he was a ‘prince’ (a title she bestowed on him, not one he chose, and one that outraged Rafe). Years later she still kept that knife secreted safely in her jewelry box, and remembered him whispering to her when he knew who she was and just before Rafe drove her home: You’re going to need a sharp sword Rayne Stanfield, and I may as well be the one to give it to you. (Throughout her young life she expected and hoped he would return to rescue her from heartbreak, disillusionment and addiction, but he never did, of course.)

Gabe disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He borrowed a lot of money from disreputable people, couldn’t pay it back, and expected them to try to kill him. They might have. Or not. Nobody knows. Just before he vanished he risked his own life to give Rafe information he needed to use against his mother. If he hadn’t taken the time to gather it and send it, his chance of escape would have been much better. He did it for family, Camilla would say, grieving and inconsolable. What Gabe would say nobody knows but revenge was probably part of it. The sheer satisfaction in taking down a far more powerful adversary might have been the better part. It wasn’t for love of Rafe.
