I’m not even gonna lie if you even slip a theyfab/theymab ONCE or misgender someone bc they’re “aligning themselves with their agab too much” (whatever that means) I’m rebuking you.
You’re just transphobic you have nothing of value to say to me. non-binary people of all things being your biggest opps is embarrassing, grow up. You’re not a “mean transsexual” you just stumbled upon 4chan.
Hey, theyfab and theymab are still derogatory; you're not fooling anyone.
idk why people are so adamant on having theyfab be some complex, intellectual feminist terminology. The earliest recordings we have of it is straight from 4chan, and dishonest Twitter users have been trying to rebrand it with little proof other than "well, my friends said so" and "you must listen to me because you should listen to trans women". It's extremely cheap.
The usage of theyfab has been mostly negative and weaponized against any trans person perceived to be "afab" that does not immediately want to assimilate (aka divorce from their transness and be treated exactly like cis people), or even if they do want to assimilate, they are still called it if they do not pass enough due to whatever arbitrary standard. expecting non-binary people or any tme trans person to suddenly take a liking to a word that is still widely used as "non-binary person I don't like" (even by the feminists who pretend they're using it in an abstract, liberating way) is odd. The only people who should be rebranding that and giving it a new purpose are the people actually affected by that terminology. There was even a study on it's usage in 4chan spaces, and the results revealed that the nature of the usage was mostly negative. Nothing about "fighting transmisogyny" was mentioned or referenced. Not even implied. Here's the study, by the way: link.
series of excerpts from the link:
I would say the only politically "activist" or "left-leaning" attempt to define theyfabs is one that is transmedicalist, not feminist in any sort of reality. They offer up theyfabs as the evil counterpart of humble transsexuals simply trying to transition, but are being cock blocked by theyfabs saying they are valid. Or if not that, theyfabs simply existing without medically transitioning, while still calling themselves trans, is apparently a personal attack against true transsexuals. It's like stolen valor to them.
The study very explicitly acknowledges it as a misogynistic term weaponized against non-binary people. It's been published (or finished) as recently as May 2024.
The interpretation of the term as feminist and subversive is recent, probably only 2-3 years old at the most, and is being pedalled every now and then by the same group of big "transfeminist" and discourse accounts on Twitter. I have searched for theyfab, and most are using it in a context that is mocking their trans identity. usually things like mocking them for not adopting sufficiently male names, fashion sense, or mannerisms. We are still having conversations where people are trying to convince you that their use of that term is some sort of justice or activism, because they just want to normalize 4chan terminology. That's it. Almost all discourse started by trans 4channers vs people who don't like their language almost always happens because they are upset that most trans people are not willing to bow to their ideology. So they do three things (and this just applies to 4channers in general):
rebrand and redefine things to either make them out as a joke or activist in nature so that more leftist spaces start accepting their rhetoric instead of pushing back.
spread their language around the internet so it becomes more normalized and less associated with their bigotry
play into pity to make people feel bad for them for acting the way they do, instead of criticizing them. It's why when we called out trans 4channers for making literal caricatures of trans women, the immediate response and demand was to make them out as miserable and pitiful beings who need to be gently told: "Hey, I don't think this is good for you". They know that more than you think. They don't care.
If the term was coined or popularized with feminist intention, theymab would also not exist as a commonly used counterpart. If it was coined to criticize the weaponization of agab against trans women, who are supposed to be "amab" in the theyfab's eyes, why would you ever coin theymab? How could a trans person weaponize an agab against trans women that they believe trans women share? I'm not saying it's impossible, but that is not how theymab is used, and that's why I know y'all are bullshitting. The fact that this word hasn't been reinterpreted and lied about to be feminist in nature shows me that this isn't the intention of theyfab at all. It is used almost identically to "agp" and usually comes with implying that the theymab is predatory. Ironically, they are creating the same stereotypes leveraged at trans women for supposedly being amab and do not register this as hypocritical...because they actually transitioned. They are passable and therefore true women, so it does not matter what transfems they weaponize this language against. What's funny is that many claim that even when trans women don't pass, or are not currently transitioning, they are still treated as women. So, which is it? cause if passing does not hinder a trans woman's ability to consider themselves women, why are "theymabs" being treated differently because of it?
There's a reason none of you can come up with solid evidence for it originally being interpreted that way, but we can find many instances of it on 4chan as another piece of trash in the transmedicalist jargon bin.
the switch up from seeing theyfabs as infantile quirky cis women and theymabs as predatory cis men trying to steal binary trans valor is crazy. like yall are not even hiding it, just transphobia but make it woke.
