Reblogging one of my favourite Heroes Fan Production Edits ever because four years ago it gave me hope.
In the face of episode 9 and the bleakness it left behind in me, in many of us, it gave me hope that this story wasn't over. Even when it seemed like that hope was born from nothing but a wish.
I was a kid when The Force Awakens came out. Others had the originals, and the prequels. These movies? They were my star wars. My mythology for my childhood.
Over the six years since RoS I learned to live with that bleakness, that realisation that this epic myth would never know wholeness. That a part of my childhood was cracked like a shattered mirror. It ended in death, in desperation, in loss, and Rey ended where she started; alone.
In turn, a part of me would never be whole again either. I accepted that, I tried to move on, even if a part of me was screaming that it was wrong. It took a piece of me that has never properly healed. I never really moved on, never loved star wars like I once did. Time just made it easier to live with, but I always just felt like I was waiting. Waiting for someone to turn around and say "this isnt how this story ends".
Now with the recent news, we know those behind the scenes have been fighting for that wish to become reality, and we were right to not give up. To believe the lie that everything was as it should be, and placate ourselves to the inevitable.
Adam Driver has been fighting for this character. This story. So now it's our turn. Let's heal the myth that they broke by letting us see the rest of their story.
No one's ever really gone, and this fairy tale still needs it's happily ever after.
There are petitions, there are letter signings, there are spaces to rage against this maddening decision. The fandom is in a state of revival, let's not stop there. No one's ever really gone, and neither were we. Like Ben, we were waiting to come home.
Six years ago this fight began, and now the beacons are lit once more. The call has gone out. So stand up. Be loud. Don't ever stop fighting for it. Keep talking, keep being mad, keep supporting each other.
The Rats will burn the mouse to make sure the Butterfly is reborn from its ashes.
Let's bring him back.
May the force be with us.
Anyone else feeling like they’re back living in the aftermath of the apocalypse that was TROS?!!!
