Okay it’s been a while since i read TBOSAS but I’ll try

He didn’t deserve anything he got </3 Trying to kill Snow was completely justified from his POV, honestly that in itself could be seen as a form of rebellion since the Capitol could bring on something worse for him if he succeeded in killing a student. I’m not sure if it was confirmed in the book that he was aware that Snow and Sej were from the Capitol, he could have mistook them for tributes but I doubt that since I think they were also carrying Marcus if I remember correctly? And yeah it probably wasn’t a rebellion inside his head, more of an instantaneous thing since he had a weapon and his opponents didn’t. Also ofc he was angry at the Capitol, they all were, and he probably already thought he was dead anyway so trying to kill Snow was like, the least he could do. No doubt a lot of the tributes including him were getting desperate. Also his death was so tragic and must’ve been so painful, he was just a kid like the rest of them, and i remember Snow trying to justify his death in the aftermath was sickening to read.

That was the book, i think, and in the movie they didn’t change much I’m pretty sure. I headcanon that he lost his arm while working in one of the factories, and having to go into the Games on top of that is just even more heartbreaking. He did look similar to how I originally imagined him and he was sweet with Wovey. I do think he’s an underrated character, not just by himself but also in how he affects Snow, officially becoming the first kill in his infamous three kills. I just went and reread that part and Snow is definitely more focused on the fact that he is now a murderer who lost his innocence, rather than on the boy he actually murdered. That honestly says a lot(but who didn’t know that right) and the kill does haunt him in the future, and Bobbin did have an effect in Snow’s mind, in a way changing how he views the Games and the tributes/districts forever. To Snow, Bobbin was barbaric and almost feral, which he interpreted as lack of control(but really showed the desperation, fear, and anger of the tributes once they’d been thrown into the terrifying arena), and I do think that helped him in his own crooked mind to dehumanize the districts even further. Also shows how little sympathy(for lack of a better word) he has for the tributes because(i just looked it back up in the book) after he finds out that he ‘underestimated how much they hate us[the Capitol]’, instead of going oh that’s probably because we’re making them kill each other you know I’d probably feel the same way if i were them he says that he wants them dead. And Dr. Gaul’s like well you did just that and he’s not remorseful, not really. Maybe I’m being too harsh but then again also probably not

Overall, Bobbin is an underrated character with a lot of overlooked impact <3

Give me your HCs about President Snow and his kids/grandkids and I'll give you mine!

Snow married a wife (unnamed in my canon but she can be Livia Cardew if you want) a few years before he 'ran' (basically inherited) his Presidency (at 35, youngest possible in both the US and Panem) and she gave him a daughter, Antonina...and a lot of miscarriages. After a few more attempts and once seated comfortably as President of Panem, he had her very quietly killed and had the perfect cover-up since they'd been milking the sympathy/propaganda of how rough it was to constantly be losing kids while trying to raise one (and no one questioned why he kept demanded despite obvious signs that it was dangerous to his wife??).

His next wife, younger by a bit (but nothing too ridiculous bc I do firmly believe his asexual (but like an arrogant 'no one is worthy of me' way, so he's not a pedo or anything) gave him two more kids. A daughter named Flaminia, and, finally, the son he wanted, Naevius.

All of them are highkey pieces of shit. And yes, the following comes in during my fics from time to time. Antonina is an arrogant, entitled, violent asshole who prides herself in "breaking in" Victors (she likes them young and couldn't get enough of Finnick when he first won). Flaminia does her fair share of lowkey evil things to Victors (dare I say buying them at all is always evil but I digress) but almost exclusively either with her sister (they're doing a lowkey incest on the side, bc ofc they would) or with this off-putting air of love/passion/care that the Victors always see through. She truly believes she loves the Victors and that they love her back, even when they tell her to her face that they don't. Denial is one hell of a drug. And then Naevius....well, he's into shit. Like actual fecal matter. Among other things. BUT, Snow was having absolutely none of that and after his version of a kink-conversion camp (lowkey tortured his son, don't worry about it) didn't work, he now literally sends his son to essentially a remote sex-camp in the middle of the mountains outside of the Capitol whenever he needs to get that particular itch scratched. Otherwise, Naevius is lowkey in love w/ Temper Heavensmark (D1/ Victor of the 56th Games) despite having a wife and 2 kids. She knows about the shit kink but luckily never has to partake in it (again, Snow is having none of his name-ruining and would probably have Temper killed if he knew she knew).

Each of his kids is well into their 40s/50s by the 74th Games but they've only given him 1 or 2 kids each (guess we can cross genetic strength of that list of coveted superiorities Snow wishes he had). Naevius gave him two granddaughters ("how dare he?" -Snow, probably), Antonina gave him a grandson, and Flaminia gave him another granddaughter.

Because he knows his own kids were raised so damn poorly and ended up being such trash (not that he'd ever admit it publicly or acknowledge why that might be) he tries to find his 'heir' in a grandkid instead, hence why we see movie!Snow bonding w/ his granddaughter so much. He's arrogant enough to think he has time to mold one of them before he dies, despite literally falling apart both bc of the poison and old age. He's not the most hopeful about the youngest (the one we see on screen) but let's be so for real, she's his favorite. In all honesty, he's gotten the furthest w/ Naevius second daughter but it raises an important question, at least to him, of succession and just generally having to plan out that transition of power bc he's still adamant that he was a fairly-elected President and that Panem is a democracy of sorts (I do believe the Capitol holds essentially mock elections for their AND the Districts' representation, not that the Districts ever get to partake or even know about it until after it's done, BUT that all of these results can and are doctored however Snow sees fit). So he's trying to continue that narrative of 'fairness' while directly electing his own heir when the time comes.

I don't think I've ever explicitly stated in my fics but I love the HC that his current wife is either functionally mute or is actually an avox purely for show. Either the trauma of being his wife and knowing too many secrets now keeps her quiet or the fact that he's always got a good excuse (oh, she's feeling ill, she never liked parties, she's with the grandkids, etc) can keep her out of the public spotlight so she never even has to talk (or both) gave him a perfect out to have the image of a perfect family without having to deal with those pesky things like conflicting opinions, someone talking to him, women, etc (he's highkey a misogynist but, again, not in the typical or sexual ways, he's special like that).
