Here’s the song responsible for this short fic i randomly decided i needed to write:
Follow You by Bring Me the Horizon
I’m not a writer in the slightest so this is just for fun. My very first attempt at a Thiam fic. Good luck reading it 🫡
They’re lying side by side on their backs, gazing up at the constellations. It’s a moonless sky, not a cloud in sight. Theo found this quiet, little clearing during one of his nightly hunts with Malia and Derek. Took one look around and knew he had to bring Liam here sometime.
He was right. Liam’s been talking about each constellation since Theo laid that first blanket down on the truck bed, pointing at each one and telling him their myths, how they’ve helped travelers navigate the world throughout history. He hasn’t felt this at peace in a long time.
Theo didn’t mean to say it out loud. One minute, he’s watching Liam’s face glow with wonder, listening to his voice retell the story of Orpheus. The next minute, his mouth is betraying him.
“I’d let you drag me back through hell.”
Liam froze, and Theo’s brain finally caught up. “What?”
Liam sat up, watching as Theo slowly did the same. “I’m not sending you back, Theo. I thought — I thought we already moved past this. I thought that we trusted each other. That you trusted me.”
Theo sighed. “I do trust you, Liam. That’s why I said it.”
“I’m not sending you back.”
“No, you obviously don’t.” Liam’s trying to keep his face and voice in check, but Theo sees right past that. He’s getting angry. “I’m not sending you back. What, did Stiles say something? I swear, what I see him —.”
Theo grabbed Liam’s hand. “Liam, relax. No one said anything to me. You’re not listening to me.”
A pause. Liam raises an eyebrow.
Taking a breath, Theo continues, “I would let you drag me back through hell.”
Liam opens his mouth, but before he could say anything, Theo covers it with his other hand.
“I would let you. I’d throw myself back down that hole, back down to my sister. To the place I go in my nightmares. Because whatever the reason might be, you’re the one asking.”
Liam’s eyebrows furrow and he makes a small noise.
“I’d do anything for you, Liam. Follow you anywhere. I used to look in the mirror and despise what I saw. I never thought I could ever deserve even half of what you’ve given me since bringing me back.”
Liam’s wide-eyed now, eyes darting between Theo’s enough that Theo knows he’s got his full attention now. He lowers his hand from Liam’s mouth.
“I can’t picture my life, my future, without you in it,” Theo whispers.
“You don’t have say anything. I know you don’t feel the same and I know that I could have just potentially ruined our friendship, but I couldn’t not tell you anymore. I couldn’t lay here and watch you be so beautiful and smart and —”
This time, Liam’s hand stops Theo’s rambling.
“Theo,” Liam quietly laughs, “you’re an absolute idiot.”
