2026 Summer of Cake Prompt 2
Challenge 1: ~100 words and 1 prompt Also posted to AO3: Here Prompt: Too fat...for the beach towel Surprisingly, the sinfully tight swimming trunks didn’t mean their demise from Derek’s voluptuous backside. Instead, they met their end at Derek’s slightly snug beach chair, if it could be called a chair anymore, given that it was no different from sitting in the sand, having surrendered to Derek’s weight and sunk down so far. When Derek stood up, the shorts snagged on the metal frame and a forceful tug didn’t dislodge them but ripped away the already strained fabric.
Completely ripped. The chair wasn’t wide enough for Derek, forcing his love handles to rest on the arms of the chair, and his hips to fill out - and side rolls to push out - of the chair. So when the metal snagged his shorts, they took enough of a chunk to reduce them to two jagged pieces. “Told you last year’s shorts wouldn’t fit.” “The shorts fit. Your flimsy chairs were the problem!” “Work fine for me,” Stiles laughed, pointing out all the extra space he had on his. “Shut up and pass me a beach towel,” Derek muttered. Stiles looked at him skeptically. “The beach towel. The regular, standard size towels.” “Yes, Stiles. The beach towels. The ones we brought to the beach. I can’t walk back to the car like this!” “Oookay.” He handed over a beach towel and watched in amusement as Derek went to wrap it around his waist like it had any chance of fitting. It didn’t. Even when Derek tried to move it under his pudgy middle, neither ends of the towel came close to meeting, and certainly didn’t hide anything. “We have to start going to buffets more. Can’t be that many more pounds before your belly hangs low enough to cover you!” “That doesn’t help me now,” Derek groaned. Which - wasn’t a no.
Out of desperation, or possibly the realization that Derek would rather cover his front and risk his ass being on display as he started his embarrassed waddle back to the car, he flipped the towel around. He had to hold both sides of it behind his back, too small to even come close enough that Derek could hold the ends together with one hand. Stiles took a photo of Derek’s pale, basketball sized ass cheeks bouncing on full display as they walked back up the beach.
