I am not a fan of AI art, I am more of a traditional artist, however since I could not find any fan art or illustrations of my favorite characters, Bridie Devine and Ruby Doyle from my comfort book, Things in Jars by Jess Kidd, I decided to try it out. Bridie looks a bit younger than I planned, and Ruby is pretty close, as you can get for a muscular, tattooed, ghost of a boxer. ;) At any rate, I would love to see if there are any other fans out there who have any types of illustrations or depictions of this amazing pair.

Things in Jars is a historical fantasy/crime fiction book by Jess Kidd. “A child is missing and Bridie is asked to find her. This is a special child and no we don’t want to go to the police.” Sounds like a simple crime-fiction story, right? But Kidd gives us this lush, textured world to move around in. This is not a fast-paced, page turner. This is a place and characters to savor. The setting in England in 1863. We get Bridie’s back story from 20 years before that is connected all through the book. We have a former boxer ghost - Ruby. And Bridie’s 7-foot tall housekeeper, Cora (Fans of Myron Bolitar’s Big Cindy will really like Cora) And lots of other great characters. This feels original and I’m grateful Kidd let us walk around in her brain for a while.
