Things that tickle my fancy - Drunk John
For my literary followers
I came upon this quote in Home From the Sea by Mercedes Lackey:
"Oh, the horrors!...The King's English wasn't murdered, it was drawn, quartered, hung, disemboweled, and burnt, only to be resurrected and done again in the next chapter!"
Sherlock as a cat?
This fandom thing is working its way into my brain. Unbidden, this thought came to me: in the matter of dog vs. cat, Sherlock would be a cat. He might be an Irish wolfhound, but his mannerisms are more catlike. I see him as a sleek, elegant breed, like a Burmese maybe.
If Sherlock is a cat, then John should be too, right? Except John is so patient and loyal and ready to defend Sherlock I see him as a dog. Not sure on the breed. A terrier-type comes to mind because I think of John as compact and fierce when he needs to be. But he's always reining in Sherlock...maybe a herding dog?
As for the rest of the cast, of course Mycroft is a cat, what else would he be? Same with Moriarity. They're just too manipulative to be dogs. Lestrade is a dog, through and through: tenacious, smart, protective. Molly? I think either would work. Something timid, a little high strung, but determined. Hmmm, I think dog. Something little, like a Yorkie? Oh! Maybe a Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkie).
Something to think about.
