ARTIST FEATURE: The Bigger Lights
The Bigger Lights, a four piece from Vienna, Virginia have four releases under their belt since their 2007 formation; Third Act Stories EP, Fiction Fever EP, The Bigger Lights, and the most recent Battle Hymn.
After being signed to Doghouse Records for both Fiction Fever and The Bigger Lights, The Bigger Lights took a total DIY approach to Battle Hymn. The band did everything themselves, from writing, to producing, to funding and releasing the album. This in itself is an impressive feat, and something they should be proud of.
Although their songs can sound slightly repetitive at points, they’re a great choice for a good mood, with their catchy choruses, such as "Hey Summer" and "Say What They’ll Say".
From what they’ve shown us with the end result of Battle Hymn, this band are perfectly capable of being a self-made success story. The fact that you know everything about the album comes straight from the band also adds an element of like-ability to it. Seeing as they pulled it off so well this time around, it’s something I hope they continue to do.
