Spent the last couple weeks going through all 114 pages of the original 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Order Guide — the actual document GM sent to dealers — just to get the trim-level breakdown right for this video.
A few things that came out of it:
The standard '92 Z28 had rear drum brakes. 10.5" fronts. Only the 1LE package got you 4-wheel disc with 11.86" vented fronts. 50% more braking surface. Half the articles online don't mention this.
The aluminum driveshaft everybody credits to the 1LE package actually came from ordering G92 without A/C. 1LE required that combo, so you got the whole bundle, but technically only the brakes and a fog lamp delete are tied to RPO 1LE in the official document. Everything else rode in on prerequisites.
705 total 1LE cars built for '92. 589 of those were police-package B4C cars that got the 1LE brake hardware. Civilian Z28 1LE count is much smaller than the number you usually see thrown around.
The Z28 Convertible — 1,254 units. Rarest '92 Camaro by a significant margin. Last third-gen V8 convertible.
Two of the four new-for-'92 colors (Polo Green II Metallic and Dark Green-Gray Metallic) were RS-only. Couldn't get them on a Z28 in either body style.
