I should really sleep but instead lets talk about why gunmar is a fucking dumbass

his plan is to, what, take over the world right? why? no clue. for some reason a world with minimum 6, maximum 12 hours of deadly sunlight is preferable to a world with exactly 0 hours of deadly sunlight. you’d think the darklands would be a refuge for trolls, not a banishment zone. their ideas of light/dark should be flipped! unless his plan is to somehow kill the sun, which is a wee bit ambitious if you ask me.

he also purposefully alienates and ostracizes his only agents who can operate in daylight, for reasons that seem to be rooted in flimsy purity nonsense? there’s not a whole lot of support for the prejudice against changelings honestly, mainstream troll culture doesn’t seem to have a superiority complex over humans, there’s just a sort of “well they’d probably kill us” philosophy, not a “humans are scum and we’re obviously better” system. it could be that changelings were made/pioneered originally by gumgums, as it’s only gumgums that seem to use them, and as such have unsavory connotations, but if that’s the case then a) it would only be mainstream trolls who pull that “impure” bullshit, and b) the impurity would stem from their gumgum association, not their human association. but back to the point, gunmar can’t afford to give his most useful operatives reason to betray him, and yet that’s exactly what he does.

am I reading too much into a children’s cartoon? probably. am I gonna continue poking holes in this sorry excuse for a villain? absolutely.
