Happy Birthday Yoi!!!
(Happy one year anniversary Yuri on ice!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ahhh a lil bit late, but here is some short, hopefully sweet Viktuuri to celebrate!!!)
Lazy mornings, warm tea, soft sheets that anyone would melt into. Where the sun rise gently filtered through the cream coloured blinds, and woke Viktor up slowly, holding his fiance in his arms. Yuuri would wake up soon, not being an early riser, or really a morning person.
Viktor held Yuuri closer, and nuzzled into his back, a soft, tired smile tugging at his lips. Gosh, he loved this man so much. Yuuri always looked so peaceful while sleeping, and Viktor wishes he could just hold him here all day, stroking his hair and slowly falling asleep himself.
But, there were things to do, and Viktor quietly and gently, to not disturb Yuuri OR Makkachin, started to get up and go to make breakfast and tea.
It was so silent….but Viktor felt so much more full of life then he had two years ago. After meeting Yuuri, Viktor’s life had suddenly become…so much more than what it used to be. Yuuri had taught him so much, and Viktor was still learning from him. he couldn’t imagine what would’ve Happened if he didn’t go to Hasetsu after that video, where Viktor had seen the man that had asked him to be his coach while at the banquet, skating his performance with so much grace and meaning. Yuuri was…not what he expected when he arrived. But he was even better, he was so much more.
Viktor loved Yuuri, so much that his heart felt like it was going to burst sometimes. So much that he nearly burned the eggs due to thinking about him so much. And….the thing is that, while Viktor had had relationships before, none of them felt this strong. They were engaged. Viktor was engaged to possibly the love of his life. It was…hard to believe, felt a bit like a dream, to find someone you care about so much. And then caring just as much for you.
Breakfast cooked and tea made, Viktor slowly made it back to the room to wake Yuuri up.
“Yuuri, sweetheart, I made breakfast you need to get up.”
This was followed by groaning, but a sleepy Yuuri hesitantly getting up. Makkachin was acting the same, but somehow even sleepier.
“Thank-you Vitya, hmmmm…ah.”
Yuuri had found his glasses, and the sleep was slowly wearing off. Slowly….
Soon enough, they were eating breakfast on the small, but cosy kitchen table that they shared, a small vase of flowers in the middle and warm bacon and eggs on each plate.
“We have to do practise today…I wonder how many times Yakov is going to nearly pull his hair out.”
“Probably nine times, at least.”
“Hmm, I was thinking about twenty.”
They both chuckled softly, and a comfortable silence filled the cool room.
“I nearly couldn’t get up this morning, you were too cute and warm.”
"You could’ve stayed in bed…I wouldn’t mind having a late breakfast, or a sleep in. I could’ve also made it you know.”
Yuuri whispered softly, trying in a way to reassure Viktor that he didn’t have to make breakfast every morning. They could share it, like they shared other chores and such.
"It’s fine, I wanted to. Although….we could make breakfast together tomorrow, if you want? And if Makka eventually gets up.”
Yuuri nodded. And they shared stories about the day before, and plans for the day. Domesticity filled the room, and while others may have thought this was boring, to them this was one of their favourite parts of the day.
Yuuri looked at Viktor and smiled, as the man spilled a bit of egg on himself. Gosh….the Viktor Nikiforov, the figure skating champion, was a messy eater. And Yuuri absolutely loved it. And loved him. And while they cleaned up, and got ready to go and skate until their legs dropped off, Yuuri continued to think about Viktor. About little features, and feelings.
Their lives felt…not exactly perfect. Because I guess perfection doesn’t really exist, but if it did then that is what it was. And as they made it to the rink, and Yakov’a stressed yelling, Yuri’s groaning, Georgi’s crying and Mila’s teasing voice filled the room. Viktor and Yuuri felt content. And, while holding hands, they quickly kissed and went to go get ready for skating.
The day went past, and Viktor and Yuuri both suddenly came to a realisation when they were walking home.
"Wait Viktor…”
"Um, Yuuri…”
"It’s our anniversary!”
…
..
.
And they both lost it.
They couldn’t stop laughing, they had somehow both forgotten their anniversary. And for them, this was one of the weirdest turns of events. They never forgot their anniversary…this was hilarious.
"Ah, we can celebrate tomorrow if you want-”
"Yes…tonight and tomorrow. Geeze, I can’t believe we both forgot.”
Yuuri responded with a snort, and Viktor pecked him on the cheek before he opened the door to their apartment, and Makkachin came running up to them.
"What do we do for it tonight…I mean, I was feeling like take out, which isn’t the most romantic…”
"We can have take out! I was feeling like it too, and it’s our anniversary, we can do whatever we want. We are adults, we can have an unromantic take out and snuggle under a blanket if we wish.”
Yuuri was now the one to peck Viktor on the cheek, while a soft blush went over his face.
"Sounds like a plan….I love you Viktor.”
“I love you too Yuuri”
That night, was a quiet, but sweet one. And while they both had forgotten…their anniversary was absolutely beautiful in their eyes. And the next day…well they celebrated again, taking the day off.
“You’d think Makkachin would remind us.”
“My goodness Makka!”
