My dad sai the most insensitive thing I've heard in a while. I brought up the fact that I thought it was unfair that Jeff Bezos was gettjng close to being the worlds first trillionare while a lot of Americans had nothing. My dad then proceeded to say that poor people choose your be poor and if they wanted to do something about it they would. I brpught up the fact that the monarchs in France had a lot of wealth while the majority didn't. He said they "allowes it to happen". Im pretty sure people don't allow themselves to be poor. I may be middle class but I've done more than enough research to know that under privileged people don't choose to live that way. He said "why don't they vote?" Bevais the governors care about their states citizens sooooo much right? Wrong. The government in America could care less about its peopl. He said "what about churches" and I asked when churches have ever actually helped anyone. If you are any kind of minority you may find that most churches (that aren't run by minoritie) don't actually care about helping people and that churches are fueled by self righteousnes. I don't understand that he a minority himself wouldn't understand the struggles people face in America and be so insensitive and cruel towards them. You can't change a system you can't get into. This is why it is so important to lift up each others voices so that we may finally be heard. America needs to change one mind at a time. If I can show my dad that other peoples lives matter then maybe he can do that for someone else and so on.
