Walker Scobell, A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD KID, just had to post on his Instagram story that he is not in fact going to prom and to please stop sending fucking DEATH THREATS to any girl in like a 500 mile radius who could've potentially gone with him to it.
Guys
I generally refrain from using swear words on tumblr but I think I need them here to really emphasize just how appalled I am at the need for this to be said at all.
HE IS SEVENTEEN. HE IS A MINOR. HE IS (I presume) NOT EVEN A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR YET.
Look, I love this fandom as much as the next person, but if this is how we're treating the people bringing these books to life, then what the hell are we here for. This fandom, from my perspective, is meant to be kind, respectful, accepting of others regardless of who they are or where they came from. This does not exemplify those ideals whatsoever.
I don't care if you guys think he's hot, I don't care if you guys think you're the only person that could possibly care for him. This is a fucking CHILD. The people having their goddamn lives threatened over just the potential to go with him to a high school dance ARE FUCKING CHILDREN.
I am incredibly disappointed in this fandom. I thought we were better than this. Better than being so fucking creepily obsessed over A CHILD that he now has to miss out on what is a major milestone for most high school aged kids (and one that I get to experience in two weeks time) because this fandom cannot observe basic human decency.
This is absolutely disgusting, and like he said in said story, it is really weird that this needs to be said at all. And god forbid someone directly involved in this needing to be said is reading this or his story. I hope you feel so much shame that you never leave your house again, never post on the internet again, and that you cannot escape this guilt for the rest of your life. Congratu-fucking-lations on doing nothing but preventing a CHILD from having a good time goofing off with friends at a literal school dance.

LACEY, Wash. - A verdict has been reached in the trial of a Lacey father and mother accused in an attempted "honor killing" of their own teenage daughter.
A jury found 44-year-old Ihsan Ali not guilty of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. However, Ali was found guilty of second-degree and fourth-degree assault, and unlawful imprisonment.
The backstory
Ali was captured on video appearing to choke his 17-year-old daughter on the ground outside Timberline High School in October 2024. The assault happened after the teen ran away from home, claiming her parents planned to forcefully send her to Iraq to marry an older man.
Multiple witnesses of the attack described seeing the daughter's eyes roll back as her father placed her in a choke hold. The victim's 16-year-old boyfriend attempted to intervene and was allegedly punched by the father, with another bystander eventually able to get the daughter to break away, according to court documents.
The victim's mother, 40-year-old Zahraa Ali, was found guilty of violating a protective order, but not guilty of second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault and second-degree burglary.
The mother was accused of attacking her daughter in a similar manner, and was also present during the attack. Court documents state the daughter previously reported abuse by both her father and mother prior to the incident.

Y'know I thought Superman Smashes the Klan would have a black protagonist alongside Superman because, well, black people are the ones most impacted by the Klan's actions, but I guess that was just too much to ask from DC.
