My normal daughter who has a normal conception of training has an ordinary relationship to the idea of proving herself ❤️ leave a like if she is normal and you agree she has no long lasting neurosis surrounding her abilities as a vigilante stemming from general self esteem issues from years of childhood neglect and abuse as well as the constant gendered scrutiny she was afforded in her early years as Spoiler and also generally the way Batman treated her and Additionally a bunch of other stuff I can’t get into rn.
Aha Whoops I dropped my assorted panels!! Ignore those please I’m sure they mean nothing.
Soldier boy.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dick call Slade this until now. It’s too cute!

both Cass’s introduction in Batman (1940) #567 and Batgirl 2000 really hammered in the Cass-dog parallels (in the form of symbolizing how David Cain violently stripped Cass of her personhood) but looking back it’s such an insane way to tell your audience that the protagonist’s abusive father from hell will always love her unconditionally

I’m sorry, but the logic that a rapist “won’t stop” because you’ve warned other people about their behavior so it’s meaningless to warn other people is so stupid. I think potential victims actually have a right to know about predators in their community. Lack of accountability is not an argument against warnings, it’s actually an argument for them.
What does it take to make African mythology real? Everything we had. Over 70% of our Kickstarter Backers came from Tumblr. Thank you. Now it's yours.

Thinking about the ancestors while getting ready to go out and celebrate Juneteenth with friends, and I feel like having a small cry.
I live a life that my ancestors could only dream of for their descendants.
I am able to wake when I want to wake. I am more than able to afford a life where I can do things for my wife and I, and help my friends when they need it (sometimes, but yk).
I am able to eat what I would like, work when I like, sleep when I'd like.
I have the beauty of living a life of freedom that many of my ancestors prayed for for their future family, and I'm sure for themselves.
Their prayers and continued hope for better is why I have better. I love and thank them so much even though I don't know their names.
I live my life to the fullest, and I do things that further myself as a show of thanks to them.
As appreciation for the sacrifices they never should have had to make, and the way they continued going forward, continued building, continued loving, continued fighting, and continued guiding.
I am my ancestors' wildest dreams when I...
sit here in my house (I'm a property owner!)
on my day off (I have a job that pays me!)
overthinking what I want next for my career (not just a job, but a career path!)
including what degree to get next (I have an education with the opportunity for more!)
Happy Juneteenth.
