so frustrated with my groupmates right now but to be so real with you im done with coping by dreaming of travelling or suicidal ideation, thats not going to fix my problem in real time, in reality, in real life!!! im the only one who can do anything about it right now so i just have to look for ways to improve or alleviate or solve my problem right now!!! i cant just keep flying off to my fantasies, if i want my life right now to improve. i have to be the person to help myself. i need to look for things right now that i can do to turn this 2/10 day rn into a 8/10 day!!! bad things are always going to happen and recently ive only been able to understand that you can only continue to curate better and better experiences for yourself such that it can become a good day again
I stole this from Facebook because a lot of the comments on the post were just so... I can’t think of the word, but it’s like when people see the world through rose colored glasses and have no idea what reality is like for most people. IGNORANT! Found it. Found the word.
The first comment I saw was “That’s a lesson I hope no one in the world will ever have to learn.” Followed immediately by “If you didn’t eat out all the time, you’d have money in your wallet and a full stomach.” And a huge focus on “A broken heart teaches you how much you’re worth, ladies”.
There were a ridiculously large number of comments like those, and it got me really frustrated. Like, there are over 7 billion people on the planet, and the vast majority has experienced all 3 of these at the same time while working their asses off trying to change something about their situation while people who’ve never experienced any of these except maybe the broken heart are so completely ignorant to the fact that this is the reality for so many people.
It’s like with what’s happening here in America (and has been happening this entire fucking year) with the stimulus checks. They really think $600 is going to be enough to help people?? Most places, $600 won’t even get you a room in a shared apartment with 5 or 6 other people all paying for their own separate rooms (this isn’t just dorms, some apartments are actually like this).
I got lucky with where I’m living and that I live with 2 other adults working full time and then some, but our bills for each month even after splitting them 3 ways is still over $600 each. $600 is nothing. It’s not going to help anyone.
Literally so many people are living with an empty wallet, empty stomach, and their hearts are breaking because they’re scared they can’t provide for their kids, their grandparents, themselves. People are broken hearted losing loved ones to the coronavirus. This is not some sad fantasy for people to say “I’d never wish that on anyone, glad this isn’t actually real”. This is real life. This is fucking happening.
Get some fucking perspective and stop romanticizing poverty and pretending it doesn’t exist in real life.
The most valuable lessons you can learn come from this? The biggest thing I’ve learned from living with an empty wallet, empty stomach, and a broken heart because I haven’t seen my own goddamn family in a year and I have no idea if my grandma is even okay after having to go to the hospital a month ago, the biggest fucking lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t depend on the people whose own fucking job it is to look out for the welfare of an entire goddamn country. You can’t even depend on your employer because they keep cutting labor when they’re not making more money than the previous year when we’re in A GODDAMN QUARANTINE.
I’m sorry that I’m so pissed off right now. I know that my anger and frustration is just wasted by posting online on an anonymous platform. I know that nothing can change from just writing angry posts.
But this got to me so much more than I thought it would. There’s no fucking valuable lesson to be learned when you’re literally fighting to survive and terrified that you won’t have a place to live next month because you wanted to eat more than one meal a day even if that meal is a hotdog wrapped in a tortilla or a bowl of cereal.
Fuck anyone who looks at this picture and thinks that this isn’t a fucking reality for millions - honestly probably billions at this point - of people.
whenever i tell people i work at an advertising agency they always ask me if it’s like mad men. and i mean, it’s super progressive, so two of the show’s core pillars, sexism and racism, are completely absent. but. tomorrow i’m literally getting paid to competitively drink beer while wearing a dinosaur costume, so in a way.
yes, it’s sort of like mad men.
all righty, i need to get my website up and running again. then i will have a space to put all the things i’ve done/made. then i will have something to put on my resume, and to steer people towards when trying to wheedle them out of their money in exchange for my ability.
khakis > jobs > chicks.

Everyone thought I was making up a story about my family when I was talking about mein familie in Deutschkurs today. I had to use English because I didn't know how to say "Meine Mutter had a midlife crises and converted to Islam and went to Morocco to "marry" mein stiefvater. Und das ist mein vater, und meine schwester, und mein bruder!" I was telling my partner and she was like "Wait is this real?" and I was like "Yeah bro couldn't make this up if I tried."
