This is Part 3
This is a response to prompts. You can find them in Part 1.
Warnings are also in Part 1.
Part 1
I apologize, I forgot how to make a link to other posts, so only part 1 will have a link (I copied part 1's link before I forgot). 😳
Thor flew the ship rather clumsily, trying to avoid being hit by blasts coming from your pursuers. The highlight of the trip was Loki's snarky comments.
"Oh look, you just decapitated your grandfather," Loki remarked when Thor's reckless flying cut off a statue's head. Thor scowled.
"They're gaining on us," Loki commented.
"They're also shooting at us," you added unnecessarily.
"Thanks Loki, (Y/N), that's not at all distracting," Thor said sarcastically.
You and Loki smirked at each other. How you both loved tormenting Thor.
...
You yawned. Loki guided the ship towards a cliff. Jane, Thor's Midgardian girlfriend, widened her eyes. You snickered, before stifling another yawn. Why were you so tired?
"Are you mad?!" Thor yelled to Loki.
Loki grinned. "Possibly."
Somehow, Loki was able to guide the ship through some sort of hole in the cliff face, and they suddenly found themselves in a bleak land. Svartalfheim.
"Wow," you said, eyebrows raised. "This place is almost as dead-looking as Muspelheim." You took a deep breath in. "And it's slightly easier to breathe here than on Asgard."
Loki turned and flashed you a smile before facing forward again. Thor grumbled that you were the only one who was breathing easier. The corners of your mouth tugged upward.
...
Loki, Thor, Jane, and you stood on the top of a hill, facing a svartalf ship. Loki was uncertain if this plan would work, but you and Thor seemed sure that it would, so he didn't argue.
He hoped the two of you were right, but prepared for the worst. This sort of thing didn't work for Thanos, and while these svartalfs were certainly less intelligent than thanos, there was that chance...
Thanos
Loki shuddered. He still remembered the words that were said so long ago:
There is no place where he cannot find you. No crevice or hole where you can hide. You think you know pain? He will make you long for something as sweet as pain.
Those words still haunted Loki. He'd never forgotten them, and didn't think he ever would. He knew Thanos wasn't done with him. No, not by a long shot. He dreaded the day he was finally found.
No. Thanos would never find him. He now had someone to fight for, to live for. Loki glanced sideways at you. Your beautiful (Y/H/C) billowed in the wind as you stared determinedly at the svartalfs.
Loki turned away. No, it could never happen. He was a frost giant, and you were a fire giant. The two of you could never be good together.
"Loki!" Thor whispered urgently in his ear. Loki shook his head. Right, the plan. There were still things to be done.
And so they went through with the plan. Loki "betrayed" Thor, stabbing him and throwing him down the hill.
"I am Loki of Jotunheim!"
"And I am (Y/N) of Muspelheim!" You added.
We have a gift for you!" Loki announced to the svartalfs when Thor had come to stop at the bottom of hill. He yanked Jane into him, holding her captive. Unfortunately, part of the plan was to not let Jane know the plan existed, but luckily Jane was easy to hold.
The svartalfs looked up at Loki. "All I ask for is this," Loki said. He paused dramatically. "A seat in which to watch Asgard BURN."
"I could help with that, svartalfs," you said, smirking as you summoned flames to your hands.
The svartalfs were wary, but they seemed to buy the facade. Loki nearly sighed in relief as they approached.
Of course, it was a trap.
Soon you, Thor, and Loki were all fighting the svartalfs. Loki felt alive as he attacked the svartalfs alongside his brother, for the first time in what seemed like ages.
And of course, there was you, your (Y/E/C) eyes sparkling as you fought the svartalfs. And the way you flipped your hair as you did it... It reminded Loki of himself. And then there were those...
Loki's breath stopped. You were being approached from behind by a bigger svartalf.
NO!
Loki launched himself at you, shoving you out of the way of the blade heading straight for your heart.
For a moment, everything was black. All Loki felt in that moment was pure pain.
Loki's vision cleared, and he lifted his hands from his stomach. His hands were covered in blood. He knew at that moment he wouldn't survive.
"LOKI!" A cry of anguish sounded from several feet away, followed by a farther, deeper cry. (Y/N) and Thor.
A huge blast of lightning shook the earth, causing Loki to wince. Soon Thor was holding him, holding Loki in his arms. His big brother.
...
Thor held Loki in his arms, trembling. No, no, no, this couldn't be happening, not his brother, not his brother...
Thor gently opened the door. Loki was in his bed, crying softly. Thor quickly ran over as fast as his short legs allowed. He sat down beside Loki.
"What is wrong, brother?" He asked, placing a gentle hand on Loki's back.
Loki sniffed. "No-nothing," Loki lied.
Thor studied Loki's frightened face, and knew that he'd had another nightmare. Thor wrapped his arms around the smaller boy, holding him against his chest.
"Don't be afraid," he told Loki. "I will always protect you. Nothing will ever harm you.
"I promise."
Loki slowly relaxed into his older brother. Thor held Loki all night.
"I promised," Thor whispered. "I promised."
Loki coughed, blood trickling down his chin. He looked Thor in the eyes.
"I-I'm sorry," he managed.
"Hush," Thor said desperately. "You're going to be alright, you're going to be fine, you're..." He trailed off and began to cry, tears running down his cheeks.
"I promised you, and failed," Thor sobbed.
...
Loki licked his lips, tasting blood. He took a shuddering breath and turned his head to stare at (Y/N), whose tear-streaked face had appeared beside Thor's.
"(Y/N)," Loki breathed. "I-I just wanted you to know, that I... I..." Loki shook his head slightly, a hint of a smile on his face.
Loki turned back to Thor and whispered so you couldn't hear. Thor nodded, sobbed, then held Loki to his chest, burying his face into his shoulder. Loki shuddered, and felt himself go still.
...
"Take care of her."
Those were Loki's last words, whispered into Thor's ear. Those were the words that rang through Thor's mind as he felt Loki go still. Those were the words that filled Thor with an icy determination. Thor would honor Loki's last words, and avenge his death, if it was the last thing he did.
...
You stared at Loki's limp form, not fully comprehending what had happened. The plan had been going exactly as planned, and then Loki had pushed you aside, had taken the knife for you, had saved your life.
But why? And what had Loki been about to say to you? "I suppose I'll never know," you muttered. Tears slid down your cheeks. You felt your throat close up.
Then you felt Thor gently touch your arm. You look up at him. He hands something to you; You take it, not even caring what it was. In the back of your mind, you note its firm grip. It must be a weapon.
Thor's breath catches as you take the weapon. You don't even care why. He leans in close.
"I'm going to get Jane. Use the hammer, go to Midgard, and stop the svartalf. I shall meet you there, where we will avenge Loki's death together."
You barely registered his words before he ran off, leaving you by Loki's corpse. Then it hits you.
Use the hammer?
You look down at your hand and gape.
You were holding Thor's hammer.
You looked down at Loki's body. "I will avenge you," you whisper. Then, you point the hammer upwards. "To Midgard, then," you mutter, forming a mask on your face so you could breathe better. Midgard might be worse than Asgard. Then Mjolnir carried you away.
Part 4 coming soon!
Note: Thor's flashback was NOT my original idea. I saw something like it several months back and wanted to use it for this. CREDIT FOR THAT SCENE GOES TO WHOEVER'S POST I SAW THAT DAY. I don't know who it was, but I want to make sure you get credit regardless.
This is Part 8
Part 1
You didn't come out of your room for three days. You knew you had broken Loki's heart, but you were doing it for his safety. Frost giants and fire giants just aren't meant to be together.
Eventually you pulled yourself together, though, and reintegrated yourself among the Sakaarans.
Brunnhilde remained your closest friend. Although she was always rude and never sober, it was comforting to know that you had someone to talk with.
About three weeks after Loki arrived, you were reading in your room when Brunnhilde threw the door open.
"I found another contestant," she said, scowling. "He thinks he's all high and mighty. He also took interest in the fact that I was a valkyrie."
"What kind of interest?" You asked.
She snorted. "Fanboy interest."
You chuckled. "May I see this fanboy?"
Valkyrie smirked. "Sure. I can't promise I won't chop his hand off if he annoys me, though.
...
Thor paced restlessly in the training room. This Sakaar place was bothersome. How could he defeat Hela if he was stuck here? What had become of his people?
"Calm down, new Doug," the pile of rocks named Korg said. "You'll get off Sakaar soon. You know, by either dying or winning."
"Not soon enough," Thor grumbled.
"...he's in there with the others," a voice said nearby.
The Valkyrie.
Thor looked to the source of the voice.
And his jaw dropped.
"(Y/N)?" He called to you.
...
Your eyes widened in shock as you saw Thor.
You turned to Brunnhilde. "Is he the guy you caught?" You ask, pointing to Thor. She nods.
You laugh and run till you're right outside of the glowing red bars. "Thor! You're here!"
Thor grinned. "I'm so glad you're here, (Y/N)! Are you okay?"
You shrugged. "I've been better. Are you okay?"
Thor shrugged as well. "I'm about to face the Grandmaster's champion, plus I've been humiliated beyond belief, but other than that, I feel great."
You frown. "Um, Thor? The Grandmaster's champion is really good. And, well, powerful."
Thor waved your advice away. "This champion can't be that good."
You shake your head. "Just make sure you're ready. And don't die."
Thor grinned. "I promise I won't die."
You nod. "Good luck, my friend."
"Thank you." You walk out, Brunnhilde trailing you.
Once you were out of that area, Brunnhilde deliberately blocked your way. "You seem to know a lot of Asgardians for a fire giant."
You shrug. "So?"
"Fire giants and Asgardians never interact like that. You were friends with both Loki and Thor."
"They are brothers," you pointed out. "If I know one, it's likely I'll know the other."
"But how do you know them?" Valkyrie pressed.
You sighed. "Long story short, I am a rejected runt. I left Muspelheim a while back and ended up on Asgard. Loki was the first one there I befriended. I soon became friends with Thor as well."
"Huh. Alright."
You smiled, clapping Brunnhilde on the back. "Wanna spar?"
She grinned. "You're on."
...
The Grandmaster had invited you to watch the contest of champions in his special viewing place. You were now in that special viewing place, pacing in the back. Thor was going against the champion. The Hulk...
And then your day got worse.
Loki entered the room, a drink held in his hand. You ducked, trying to immerse yourself in the small crowd.
Unfortunately, Loki spotted you. He hesitated, clearly conflicted. Hurt shone in his eyes as he gazed at you. Then he began walking towards you.
Oh no, you thought. You tried to avoid him, but it was too small a room. You knew as soon as he grabbed your arm that you might not be able to resist him again.
"(Y/N)," Loki breathed.
You looked down. "Hi Loki," you mumbled.
"You don't need to protect me," he said. "We do belong together, I know it."
"But I will hurt you," you muttered half-heartedly.
Loki gripped your arms harder. "I don't care," he whispered. "Please..."
You couldn't bear it any longer. You pulled him down to your level and kissed him hard. He kissed you back, pulling you closer. At that moment, you forgot your fears. You didn't even notice how cold his lips were. All you knew was you were kissing Loki, kissing your best friend, and it was wonderful.
"Woah, it looks like we have a couple of lovebirds here," a voice commented loudly.
You and Loki quickly broke away. The Grandmaster was grinning at the two of you.
"I'm so happy you two have found love for each other in my court," he said.
You were blushing furiously, so you changed to fire giant form so that it wouldn't be so obvious. Loki, however, was having more trouble hiding his blush. And his lips were perfectly fine, not in the least bit chapped.
And then the contest started.
Thor came out.
And the Hulk came out.
Thor's face sported a grin. "YES!" He bellowed.
You were confused. Why was he happy that it was the Hulk? Did he not know what the big guy was capable of?
Thor looked up at the crowds. "He's a friend from work!" He called.
You buried your face in your hands. This was going to be painful.
This is Part 5.
Once again, prompt response. You can find all warnings, as well as the prompts, in Part 1.
"Wait a minute," Thor said. "Surtur is your FATHER?"
"Unfortunately," you muttered.
"How are you so small, then?" Thor asks.
"Your guess is as good as mine," you reply.
Thor fell silent. You were red with embarrassment, and also because you were in fire-giant-mode.
Surtur growled. "So why are you here?"
"To stop you from starting Ragnarok, obviously," Thor said.
"You cannot stop Ragnarok. It is inevitable. Your home is destined to burn. It was prophesied long ago."
"Yeah, well, I'm going to stop it," Thor responded. "And screw the prophecy."
"And how exactly will you stop me?"
"Like this," Thor said, and you and Thor burst the chains together. Thor summoned Mjolnir, and you made a huge, crystalline sword appear in your hands. It had been specially forged for you by the dwarves of Nidavellir, just like Thor's hammer. It had been one of your first stops after joining Thor in his travels.
The dwarves had told you it had a special name. Hyrr Andlát. Fire death. Very suitable.
You hacked down Surtur's minions one after the other. You didn't use fire, however, for you knew it wouldn't do much to them.
Thor soon defeated Surtur and had his crown. Now all you had to do was not get eaten by his pet dragon.
"Hold on!" Thor yelled. He wrapped an arm around your waist, and you clung to his shoulders. He raised Mjolnir, and the two of you shot out of the cave and into the sky, the dragon following.
"Thor!" You screamed. "The dragon is gaining!"
Thor grunted, sweat streaming down his brow. Although you made yourself light, carrying you and Surtur's giant crown while flying in the air via Mjolnir was not an easy task, even for the god of thunder.
"I'm going to let you go!" Thor yelled. "On my signal, call the Bifrost!"
You gulped and nodded. Thor dropped you, and you plummeted toward the ground. You quickly concentrated, and slowed, so when you hit the ground, the worst injuries you had were cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
You grunted at the impact and got up on shaky legs. You looked up at Thor, who stood in the dragon's mouth, struggling to keep its jaws open.
Suddenly, Thor broke free, and dropped Mjolnir. As he fell towards you, you yelled several times for Heimdall.
Silence.
Right before Thor hit the ground, the Bifrost appeared, and sucked you back to Asgard.
You staggered forward, Thor beside you. The dragon's head also came out of the portal, splashing everyone in green goo.
"Wait a minute..." You say slowly.
"Where's Heimdall?" Thor finishes.
In front of you stood a bald guy with tattoos. He held Heimdall's big sword, and did not look happy. Probably the green goo he was now covered with.
"I am Skurge," the bald guy said. "Heimdall was fired because of his crimes against the king."
You and Thor exchanged a look. Something was up. Heimdall would never betray Odin. There was, however, a person of power he would betray...
"Come, (Y/N), we need to get this to the vault in Asgard."
Skurge stepped forward. "Hold on, I have to announce you to the king..."
Thor once again held your waist, then turned towards Skurge. "Don't care," he said, smiling. Then you and Thor flew towards the golden palace, leaving Skurge in the dust.
...
"What the heck?"
You stared, baffled at the scene before you. There was definitely something wrong.
First of all, you were pretty sure there hadn't been a giant statue of Loki before.
Second, there definitely hadn't been a play starring Matt Damon as Loki.
Thor sighed. "Here we go," he muttered. He shouldered his way through the crowd, with you right on his tail, until the two of you were at the front.
"Hello, Father," Thor said loudly.
Odin, who was lounging on a plush chair, watching the play, turned to Thor and nearly choked on his wine.
"Crap," he muttered.
"Do you know what this is?" Thor asked, holding up Surtur's crown.
Odin stood, looking at it. "Why, that's Surtur's crown. Supposedly, it will bring about Ragnarok one day."
Thor turned to an attending servant. "Lock this up so it doesn't turn into a fiery monster and destroy all of Asgard."
The servant nodded, gingerly taking the crown and heading to the palace.
Thor turned back to Odin. "You know what I've been doing while you've been lounging around, sipping wine and watching plays? I've been restoring order to the realms, which are in chaos, by the way."
Thor advances in Odin, who was definitely getting nervous. He moved behind the old man, then threw Mjolnir.
"I'm going to summon it now," Thor whispered. "Nothing will prevent it from smashing your face." He leaned in closer, while summoning Mjolnir. "Brother."
Odin struggled a bit, starting to panic, when he suddenly yelled "alright fine!"
Thor threw Odin aside while catching Mjolnir in his other hand. Odin shimmered and transformed into...
"Loki," You breathed.
Loki held his hands up and slowly turned around. He faced Thor and stared at him for a moment. Then he gave Thor the cutest grin you'd ever seen.
Thor and Loki began arguing, but you weren't paying attention. All you could see was Loki.
He's alive.
You could barely comprehend it. How did he survive? How did he pass as Odin for a few years? And why was he so freaking hot?
Suddenly Thor grabbed you. "Loki's taking us to Odin," he growled. You nodded, blinking a few times before forcing your eyes away from Loki.
"Okay," you replied softly.
...
"You left him here?" Thor asked.
You, Thor, and Loki were standing in front of a retirement home in Midgard. Except it had been reduced to rubble.
"I didn't know it would get torn down," Loki replied. "I'm not a witch."
"Then why do you dress like one?" Thor countered.
You looked at Loki from across Thor. He was dressed in an all black suit, and you had to admit, he looked stylish in it.
Thor, meanwhile, was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and an old jacket. He noticed you looking and flashed you a smile. You half-heartedly smiled back.
You looked down at your outfit. You wore loose gray pants and a matching t-shirt. You had a pair of sturdy shoes on as well. The whole outfit was, of course, flame-resistant.
"Where could he have gone?" Thor wondered.
"I can show you," a voice from behind said.
All three of you whipped around to see a strange man in a red cape standing before you. A sparkling golden portal to another room stood behind him. The man beckoned towards them, then stepped into the portal.
You, Thor, and Loki exchanged looks. You shrugged, then followed the guy into the portal. When you were through, you looked back to see the two brothers hesitantly following you.
After you had all stepped through, the portal closed. No going back.
You faced the weird man. "Who are you?" You asked him.
"Doctor Strange," the man replied.
"Name suits you," you muttered.
Strange rolled his eyes. "Of course," he said, obviously annoyed.
The world lurched around them, and suddenly they were all standing in front of a desk, three chairs before them.
"Sit," Strange commanded. He had appeared behind the desk and was taking a seat.
Slowly, the three of you took a seat.
Strange laced his fingers together and sat forward. "I can take you to Odin," he said. "However, you need to promise to take this guy," he nods to Loki, "off of earth."
"Done," Thor and Loki replied simultaneously.
Strange raised an eyebrow. "Alright then." He stood and walked over to a clear space. You, Thor, and Loki followed.
Strange raised his hands and made a circular motion with one, while the other was steady. Another portal appeared, very similar to the last. A green field was shown beyond it.
"Go on," Strange said impatiently.
You huffed, then marched through the portal, Thor and Loki following closer behind. As soon as Loki was through, the portal shut. No going back.
Odin was sitting on a log overlooking the sea. He seemed much less angry and more... peaceful. Of course, he wasn't accusing you of being a spot and throwing you in jail at the moment.
Thor and Loki walked up to their father. You followed hesitantly, not sure if you should come or not. After all, this was a family matter, and Odin didn't really like you.
"It's so peaceful here," Odin remarked. "I often forget that Midgard has its own beauty, as well."
Loki shifts uncomfortably. He beckons you forward. He doesn't want to face this alone. You walk to him and lace your fingers through his. He immediately relaxes.
"My sons," Odin says. Loki looks over, surprised. "My time is almost come. I cannot hold her back much longer."
"Hold who back?" Thor asked.
"Your sister," Odin replied. "Hela."
You quickly look at Thor and Loki's faces for their reaction. Obviously they didn't know they had a sister.
"You know, Loki," Odin said softly. Loki looked over at him. "It took me quite awhile to break free is your spell. Your mother would be proud."
Loki's eyes tear up a bit. You squeeze his hand.
Odin finally looks at Loki, then to you. Your heart skips a beat. Oh no, you think.
"I see you've also found a girl. I am truly happy for you, my son."
You stare at Odin in disbelief. Say what now?
Odin looks to Thor. "You and your brother must stop Hela, before it's too late." He looks to the sea again. "Goodbye, children."
Woah, long chapter! What'll happen next? Part 6 coming soon!
This is Part 1
This is a response to the following prompt:
“Not everyone can be as cunning as I. You can try, though.”
“My magic doesn’t heal. It hurts. At least, that’s the only thing I can be sure of.”
“Around here? Nothing is ever simple. Come on, we’ll figure this out.”
“Trouble seems to find me no matter where I go. Let’s just hope you won’t be there when it does.”
“This was not the kind of problem I ever expected to have.”
“Your eyebrows are going to fly off your head if you raise them any higher at me.”
Here goes! If you like it, feel free to reblog, like, and follow me for more! (Hopefully 😁)
Warnings: A bit of romance, perhaps, and action. No language, and no inappropriate scenes, so don’t worry. 😊
Fyi: I don’t own these characters.
PART 1
Summary: You are a fire giant from Muspelheim. However, like Loki, you were very small and runty, and so you were abandoned. However, somehow you survived your childhood. You are now a “young adult” of about a thousand years old, and have decided to leave Muspelheim for good. You find a secret way to travel between realms and soon find yourself on the outskirts of Asgard.
You stumbled through the unstable portal, coughing. The air here was so… weird. How could anyone stand to live here and breathe it every day?
“Right,” you thought. “This air would seem completely normal to those who have breathed it all their life.”
You brushed yourself off as you heard the portal close behind you. You straightened up, surveying your surroundings. You were in a forest of sorts, except it was… green. All the forests back home were brown and gray, from all the fire and ash.
You started walking through this colorful new world, pausing at times to marvel at a flower, or a bee buzzing by.
Eventually the trees thinned, and you came across a beautiful town. The houses were a bright white, with different colors highlighting the edges. Near the center of it all was a golden palace, reaching higher than anything else, as far as the eye could see.
You then noticed the people moving about, and how different they looked. You knew it could be dangerous to look different, and you yourself were particularly good at shapeshifting, so you quickly changed to match how they looked.
You took a deep breath (which caused you to cough in discomfort) and joined the crowd of people going about their day.
You decided to go to the palace and ask if you could buy a house here, and perhaps get a job as well. You wouldn’t tell this ruler your true identity, however, in order to protect yourself.
You stop a passerby on your way to the palace and ask him what realm this is.
He looks at you, puzzled. “Asgard,” he said slowly. “Are…”
You quickly interrupted him. “Oh, thank goodness! I have finally come home! It’s been a long time since I’ve been in Asgard, and I’m afraid I have forgotten what it looks like!” You grasped his hand. “Thank you!”
You then hurried away before he could respond.
“Asgard, huh?” You thought. You’d heard stories about Asgard, of course, but they were all vague and confusing. However, you knew enough to know that the ruler you were meeting was none other than Odin, the All-Father. You were excited to meet him, and you started walking faster.
When you arrived at the gate to the palace, you bowed gracefully to the guards. “May I request an audience with the All-Father?” You say politely.
The guards glanced at each other. The elder of the two nodded, and the younger one hurried inside the gates.
As you waited, you chatted with the elder guard, and found that he was quite friendly, and very open. He told you of Odin’s family troubles, what with Thor being in love with a human, and Loki locked up for trying to rule over Midgard. You hadn’t heard of this; in fact, you didn’t know much about Thor and Loki, other than the fact that they were Odin’s two sons.
The younger guard ran back over. He whispered something to the elder guard, who nodded.
“Go with the two guards inside the gate,” the younger guard said. “They’ll escort you to the All-Father.”
You nod, then go inside the gate to where the other two guards were waiting. One of them led you on front, while the other walked behind you.
You eventually reached two massive double doors. The first guard knocked, and the doors slowly opened. He gestured for you to go inside.
You slowly walk in, the guards trailing in after you. You walk up to the throne, where Odin sat stiffly, with Frigga standing beside him.
You stop some distance away and kneel. Odin looked down on you for a moment. “You may speak,” he said.
“Thank you, my king,” you say, “for allowing me to talk with you, and for taking the time to do so.”
You coughed into your arm, and wished it wasn’t so hard to breathe, though it wasn’t as bad as when you first came to Asgard.
“My king,” you began, “I have been traveling among the realms for many years, and have finally returned home, to Asgard. I am currently looking for a home and job, and was wondering if you could allow me to do so.”
Odin stared at you, and his eyes narrowed. “You are originally from Asgard?” He asked coldly.
You felt your heart skip a beat. “Yes,” you said slowly.
Odin frowned. “And why are you having trouble breathing?”
You froze. Was it that obvious?
Odin got up from his throne and walked down the steps leading up to it until he was just a few paces from you.
“Heimdall told me of your arrival, fire giant,” Odin said. “Are you here to spy on us? Had Surt awoken for Ragnarok?
"What, no!” You said, horrified. “I’m no spy! And I hate Surt!”
“A likely story,” Odin yelled suddenly. “You think you can just walk into my realm, my palace, and expect me to think you one of our own?” Odin turned around and walked back to his throne. Once seated, he said, “put her in the dungeons.”
Your eyes widened, and you felt your arms being pinned behind you. You started to fight, even burning a few of the guards, but there were too many of them. They eventually got you into cuffs, and put an insulated contraption over your mouth that acted as a gag. However, you still struggle against your captors. Then pain explodes in the side of your head, and everything goes black.
You wake up gradually. Your head is throbbing, and your wrists are sore. You groan, and slowly sit up.
You survey your surroundings. You appear to be in a small room, with two walls. The two other sides of the room were see-through, with a yellowish tint. You look through one of these, and see loads of other “cells” like this one, containing all sorts of people, from giants to dwarves. However, you notice one difference. All other cells have three opaque walls, instead of two.
“Finally awake, are we?” A voice says to your right.
You start, then look over to where the voice came from. Through your other see-through wall, you see a handsome young man, with wavy black, shoulder-length hair, blue-green eyes, and a mischievous smirk. He was sitting against one of his opaque walls, holding a book in his hands.
“Obviously,” you say, dramatically rolling your eyes.
He laughs, closing his book and putting it aside. “I like you,” He says, smiling. “What’s your name?”
“(Y/N),” you reply. “What about yours?”
He raises an eyebrow. “Loki,” he says. He grins at the look of shock on your face.
“YOU’RE Loki?” You say incredulously.
Loki smirks. “The one and only.”
You snort. “You’re a lot less impressive than I imagined.”
Loki’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not exactly what I would call impressive, either. I’ll bet you’re a Midgardian that got in here for wandering blindly into Asgard.”
You bristle. “For your information, I am a fire giant from Muspelheim, and came here for a fresh start,” you snarl. “But nobody will ever accept me. In Muspelheim, I was an unwanted runt. Here, I’m a spy for the fire giants.” You slump down, almost feeling relieved at being able to get everything off your chest.
You look up at Loki, expecting him to laugh at you, or make a snide comment, but he actually looked sorrowful.
“I know what that feels like,” he said softly. “I was adopted. I’m actually a frost giant. However, I, too, was a runt, and so I was abandoned. Here in Asgard, once everyone found out my true heritage, they cast me out. They rejected me.”
You stared at Loki, disbelieving. “You’re adopted?”
He laughed. “I guess word hadn’t reached Muspelheim, huh?”
You slowly nod. “I suppose so. However, before we start doing some weird ‘relatable’ thing, I have a question for you.”
“Ask away.”
“Why do we have a joint transparent wall?”
Loki hesitates. “I’m not sure. Perhaps for a bit of rivalry to keep us out of trouble? After all, we are practically opposites, you being a fire giant, and me a frost giant.”
“Hm…” You muse. “I suppose it is possible.”
“Well, then let’s not give them what they want, eh?” Loki says slyly. “If they want us to fight, then instead we will be civil with one another.”
“A fabulous idea,” you respond.
Loki grins. “I suppose we have an alliance, then?”
“Yes.”
Loki gives you one last grin, then picks his book up again and starts reading again.
CRASH!
You look up, startled. “What was that?” You whisper.
“Prisoners escaping, of course,” Loki says without looking up from his book. “They’ll break everyone out except for me, because I’m going to be super creepy.”
“What?”
Loki grins down at his book. “Just roll with it.”
The shimmery wall facing the other cells vanished, and a svartalf gestures for you to come. You hesitate, and look over at Loki. You notice that the wall separating your cells was down, but you knew that wouldn’t last long.
You shook your head at the svartalf, and moved into Loki’s cell, sitting against the back wall. The svartalf shrugged, then moved on, and your cell’s transparent walls came up again. For better or worse, you were stuck in Loki’s cell.
“You might want to take the other stairs!” Loki calls out to the procession of prisoners, startling you. You look over at him to find him smirking.
“Did you do your super creepy thing?” You ask.
“Yes, and I was successful,” Loki says, unphased by the fact you had moved to his cell. “Now we just wait, and my brother will come to me for help against the elves.”
“And how do you know he’ll come?” You inquire.
“Thor will NEED my help.”
You shrug. “Okay.”
Loki smiles, then walks to you and sits down beside you. He hands you his book. “Would you like to read it?
You blush. You loved to read, even though the things you read had always ended up burned to ash by other fire giants.
"I’d love to,” you whisper, gratefully accepting the book. You open to the first page and begin reading. You notice after a couple minutes that Loki is casually reading over your shoulder.
You grin. “Would you like me to read the book aloud, Loki?” You ask, looking him straight in the eye.
“Yes, I would,” he responds, scooting closer until the two of you touched. Your breath caught in your throat. You swallow, then begin reading. “Freya was devastated at the loss of her husband. She looked for him, in vain, for decades, all the while crying non-stop..."

This is Part 7
Part 1
You had been on Sakaar for three days. The Grandmaster had immediately taken a liking to you and gave you a room in his palace.
You currently lay down on your bed, reading a book. You found you weren't enjoying it much, though. It just wasn't the same without Loki leaning on your shoulder, your arm wrapped around him, holding him close.
You sigh. You don't even know if Loki is still alive. You didn't know what to do. And you hated that.
Brunnhilde walked in. "Hey (Y/N)," she said plopping down next to you.
You closed your book and sat up. "Yeah?"
She smiled. "Found another one. He's quite the talker, too. The Grandmaster was going to have him be a contender in the contest, but he talked his way out of it. He's got a silver tongue, that's for sure."
You gasped. "Where is he?" You demanded.
Brunnhilde raised an eyebrow. "In the common area."
You stood and ran out the door, racing through the halls. Could it truly be Loki?
You skidded to a halt once you had reached the common area. You quickly scanned the room, eyes searching.
Then you saw him, grabbing a cocktail from a nearby servant.
You ran to him, pushing your way through the crowd. It was him, it was really him, he was alive and well.
Loki set the cocktail down, and not a second later you tackled him, squeezing him with all your might.
"Loki, it's you, you're alive, you're alive!" You sobbed in relief.
Loki grunted. "Too tight, too tight."
You relaxed your hold, stepping back and staring into those beautiful green eyes. "We have a lot to talk about," you said.
Loki chuckled. "Indeed, we do."
You grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him back the way you had come. When you reached your room, you found Brunnhilde had left. Good. You wanted a one-on-one talk with the god of mischief.
You closed the door behind you and walked up to Loki. You smacked him.
"Ow!" Loki complained.
"You faked your death," you said angrily. "You put me through a lot of pain. Why did you do it? Why did you fake your death?"
Loki sighed, sitting down on your bed. You hesitated, then sat beside him.
"Being completely honest," he began, "I didn't fake my death. I really thought I was dying."
"How'd you survive?" You asked.
He shook his head. "I honestly don't know. One moment, I took my last breath. The next, I find I'm actually alive.
"After that, I knew this would lend me an advantage. I knew how to hide from Heimdall's sight; I'd done it before. And everyone knows Odin is a terrible king. So i thought, 'I can replace Odin as king. I'll place him on Midgard and allow him to live his life in peace.' Is that so bad? I didn't think so.
"So I took Odin's place as king. Thor of course, refused the throne, so my place was secured. I would bring Asgard peace and prosperity. And I did."
Tears slid down your cheeks. "But why didn't you tell me?"
Loki wagged a finger. "That's your own fault. You see, you never came back to Asgard. I'm not Heimdall, I can't see everything, so I didn't know where you were."
You nodded. "I missed you so much," you whispered.
Loki ran a have through your hair. "And I, you."
Both of you leaned forward simultaneously and your lips met. Loki stroked your neck and you placed your hands on his chest. The kiss quickly deepened, and you sighed. You were kissing Prince Loki.
A frost giant.
You realized that Loki was gasping, but not because of the kiss. Your lips were too hot.
You quickly pulled back. Loki touched his lips, which had become chapped and bleeding.
"Oh, no!" You wailed. You rushed Loki over to the little kitchen you had right next door. You filled a cup with icy water, ignoring the pain of the cold, and handed it to Loki.
"Drink," you commanded. Loki nodded mutely and drank.
The effect was instantaneous. His lips healed, color returned to his face, and he visibly relaxed.
You let out a sob. "I'm so sorry, Loki."
He shook his head. "It's not your fault, darling. You didn't anticipate this."
You stared at him. "Did you?"
Loki hesitated, then nodded.
Your lip trembled. "Why'd you let me kiss you then?"
Loki smiled. "Because I love you, (Y/N)."
"I-I love you too, Loki."
He stepped forward, but you shook your head. "I'm not hurting you again."
Loki frowned. "I've been through much worse, love. Trust me."
You shook your head, tears drowning your eyes. "Heat is fatal to a frost giant. I suppose we're just... Not meant to be."
Loki sucked in a shaky breath. You could see tears in his eyes, too. "I suppose so," he said coldly. He spun around and strutted out the door, slamming it behind him.
Leaving you with a shattered heart.
