I have targeted the situation before, and if you notice, I rarely ever use the word "poly" besides my username, and in case you haven't noticed the disclaimer already, it's because @/this-is-polyphobia was already taken, and because it's counterproductive to change it now, since it's literally not a big deal. No one has asked me about this for months because I have already made this disclaimer (the only reason I'm doing it again is because some new people have followed me since then).

As for who can use the word poly, I have asked other polyamorous and Polynesian people, and the overall consensus is that both groups are allowed to use the term has it is an important part of the history of both communities.
