I’ve submitted this to the general exorsexism blog, but I’m also submitting it here because it’s definitely also sanism.
The way that it/its enbies with PTSD get treated.
Your own opinions about why you prefer it/its pronouns do not matter whatsoever. You are not worth listening to regarding why you connect more with those pronouns than any others. You have a Disorder so it’s because of The Disorder. You would obviously only use it/its due to trauma messing with your self-perception anyway. And people should refuse to use it to “heal you”. Whether or not you want to be healed or whether repeatedly misgendering you and acting self-righteous about it would ever even heal you are not questions worth answering. We’re trying to Heal You so just let yourself be misgendered. It’s for your own good. To cure your PTSD.
People will even go so far as to armchair diagnose all it/its users with PTSD. Before I blocked everyone in that tag, one of the top posts in the #anti it/its pronouns tag was basically “I’m sorry you went through something horrible, and I’m equally sorry you internalized the resulting dehumanization and objectification to the point of actually identifying with it. But I’m not going to help you feed into that by calling you an it. “It” isn’t a valid pronoun”.
Oh, and this is when people are pretending to be nice and benevolent and see themselves as saving lost traumatized disordered souls who for some reason don’t want to be saved. As soon as the mask comes off, everything just shifts into pure vitriol and stabbing us where it hurts worst.
Signed, a they/them enby who’s really a they/it enby, but who’s genuinely scared to actually wear an it/its pin. And who feels like me being able to do it is contingent on me being able to successfully mask all my PTSD symptoms.
this is transsanism, and honestly gross that the "#anti it/its" tag even exists.
