Fai cuts past anything Ashura was actually saying and skips right to the core of the reason he’s here in the first place. And honestly I want to know this too. But how about that cruel reflection imagery CLAMP is using there, showing Fai as if he’s two people? Showing that Fai still carries around the image of his twin wherever he goes, never allowing himself to forget that everything he does is to switch places with the mirror image and become the lifeless reflection instead?

The reflected floor shows Ashura as well, because it’s showing both the things that loom over Fai here; his purpose to bring back his twin, and Ashura’s unnamed intention that hangs over him just as heavily. Fai is, in this image, boiling his purpose down to these two things. His existence doesn’t matter beyond these two things, and so he ignores any knowledge about smiling he might have just learned and instead asks about that secondary purpose instead.

And the manipulative twat that Ashura is immediately leaps into blatantly twisting Fai’s feelings into something that Ashura can use against him.

How heartbreaking is it that the greatest thing Fai can say about his own existence is that people don’t seem to mind that he’s there. That’s it. That’s the pinnacle of the happiest presence he deserves; being tolerated to exist.

And yet this is exactly what Ashura wants; to make Fai feel indebted to these nice people so that he’ll do whatever Ashura asks of him. It’s child’s play for Ashura.

I’m THRILLED that we finally get to see what Fai’s tattoo was supposed to be doing. AFTER ALL THIS TIME.

I’m a little unsure how... stopping Fai’s magic from growing would help the situation they’re talking about. If Fai’s magic gets stronger surely that means he has less chance of finding someone stronger than his magic level and having to kill them?

Maybe there’s a quirk in the wording I’m missing.

But either way, Ashura is presenting Fai a solution to his problem that will also make him reliant on Ashura. This will not only limit Fai’s growth, but drive him to want to keep Ashura alive.

Literally everything that comes out of this trash man’s mouth is another level of manipulation to drive Fai into being completely dependent on and obedient to Ashura and this isn’t even answering Fai’s question!

Our apartment management sucks in huge ways and is way overpriced, but like the utilities being included (with heat and ac) is fucking wild. I have never lived somewhere where the ac was like... in the wall? Like it exists as part of the building and I can just do whatever with the temperature and it works pretty well and doesnt cost extra?? Wild, makes being an environmental terror so much easier

#we didnt do ac growing up just cross breezes and figure it out with the hose or creative ice use #then bfs house was... sometimes cooled but honestly just easier to do windows and fans again #then the last place we did have window units but running them was so expensive so we put up blankets over the doors and would cool one room #this is wild though #hugely bragging let me have this
