Aaah, hard question. I sincerely see Draco only with Harry, BUT, if for any reasons they couldn’t be together I think I’d ship him with a Muggle.
Does this sound weird? I mean, Let’s think about this.
- The war ends and Draco isn’t condemned into Azkaban. He has to finish his studies at Hogwarts, helping to rebuild the castle, taking lessons about Muggle life as penalty for his crimes.
- In addition to Muggle Studies, he has to actually live amongst Muggles. And so he buys a little flat in Muggle London.
- He starts going out to gay pubs during the weekends, stopping for breakfast to Muggle Patisseries while reaching the Apparition Point to go to Diagon Alley every morning and then get to Hogwarts.
- One morning, a dark-haired guy orders a cappuccino before Draco in the Patisserie and when he turns over, Draco is speechless. He is breath-taking. He smiles and Draco sees in it a warmth he’s not used to these days, being a Death Eater. But this guy is a Muggle, he can’t possibly know.
- Let’s call him Steven. He offers Draco a cappuccino as well. Draco doesn’t like it, he prefers Latte Macchiato, but he accepts. “Ah-I- Yes, t-thanks.”
- Steven asks Draco where he goes every day because he already noticed him stopping by every morning. “Is it for work?”
- Draco cringes. What now? “No, it’s not for work. I go to school.”
- They start dating and Draco slowly falls in love with the way Steven whispers to him during movies, how Steven always furrows his brows when Draco doesn’t understand what the fuck is a dishwasher, how Steven chuckles when Draco mutters things like “with magic is easier”.
- After some years, Steven proposes to Draco and Draco freezes. He can’t accept without telling him the truth. And so he tells him everything. Why ugly scars paint his chest, why sometimes the lights of their home turn off without reasons, why he has a faded “tattoo” on his left arm.
- Steven stands there, with the ring mid-air. He suspected Draco was different. “It’s in the past, I’ve learned to love the man you are now. So, I’ll ask again: Draco Malfoy, will you make me the happiest man walking on Earth becoming my husband?”
- Draco isn’t sure he deserves this. But he’s changed. He wants this. “Yes.”
But, you know, even the old “Draco x Neville” is always a good choice. 😂👌🏼
