Likewise her gaze darted anxiously over their surroundings, scanning the unfamiliar setting. She’d rarely visited his house, let alone this casual sitting space, so at least her roving eyes could take her mind off Bear.

@carasim // indy smoothed out her skirt, taking a deep breath as she looked in the mirror. she looked good, she thought, but first dates were always anxiety inducing — first dates with your best friend were worse, it seemed. she packed a picnic basket, the heart-shaped cookies she’d attempted to bake tucked away safely with the snacks and blankets. 

she was to meet cara in the park, but decided to walk the long way round to ease the second-guessing and sickly butterflies that flooded her stomach when she thought about the date for more than a couple of seconds. she set everything out as neatly as she could, sitting on the blanket as she waited for cara to arrive.
