i’ve never written a letter before ! i’ve only read about people sending letters to each other in the books you and uncle iroh bought me , and some of the ones at school . so i wanted to try writing a letter to you ! i know you’ve been really busy and haven’t been able to come visit us at the tea shop so i just wanted to tell you what’s been going on over here \o/
( not that anything’s been happening really , nothing’s happened since you and aang brought peace everywhere ! )
i finally started going to school again :D can you tell my spelling is a lot better ? i didn’t know how much i missed learning until uncle iroh got me enrolled me at the academy ! i have so much fun reading the books and scrolls they give us -- they even have some water bending ones ! but i’m not allowed to touch those ... they’re very old and breakable apparently :( maybe i can copy them down or something so i can practice at home sometime . that , or uncle has talked about taking me to the northern water tribe ! how cool would that be ? !
so far , i haven’t really made any friends . it’s kinda hard to when everyone already knows each other ... but uncle says i’ll make friends in no time . i don’t know though ... i’m not sure i even want friends . i’d rather just make tea with him every day and hang out with you when you visit ! you guys are easier to talk to than the other kids are ...
anyway ! how are you doing ? you’re firelord now ! i bet that’s really scary , right ? there must be so many people wanting to talk to you ! i can’t even handle more than two people looking at me at the same time :O but i bet you’re doing great ! you’re like ... the bravest person i know !

okay so imma be real honest with you, when I first saw the Bonten cover, I was only looking at Ran, like Kaku did not even catch my eye until I started looking more? closely? and I was like okay goddamn this boy is fine as hell
skip to me reading the tenjiku arc and I was so enamored by this man bc he just radiated comfort character energy.
ig the biggest things, i love about him would be:
his sense of loyalty. you just know this man would never ever cheat on you if he loves you. heck, he's still probably not over izana ajjasasjk
how overprotective he is of his friends and those he loves respects
his absolute killer fashion sense (timeskip vers)

hell, his scar is so fucking attractive too I just wanna kiss it and touch it and reassure him that he's so pretty
on that note, Kaku is the hottest Bonten member, I said what I said
his strength but not only that—it's how he wields it. I just find it so hot that he prefers hand to hand combat even when he's a good shot
spoilers for the latest chapter: when he called Takemitchy "hero" and I damn near cried
he's a Capricorn and I'm weak as fuck for those moody, earth sign men (I swear it's a 12th house thing cause Capricorn rules that part of my chart BJDWK)
how he definitely has abandonment issues from his tragic backstory after losing his parents as a child
it's canon that he loves children since he wanted to build a better world for delinquents together with izana. I just know that bonten!kaku donates a shit ton of his paycheck to orphanages and even visits them when he's free (sobs he'll be such a great dad, I know he will)
he just radiates big dick energy. I don't know what it is but I know he's hanging and packing
how he's just everyone's adopted little brother at this point (especially to Ran and to some extent, Mikey)
case in point: out of everyone in Bonten, he's the only one that Mikey chose to confide in regarding toman's reunion and that says a lot about his character if he can get someone as closed off as the most dangerous man in Japan to share what's troubling him
his eyes. they're just so pretty I could stare at them all day. I also read a meta somewhere here (for the life of me, I can't find the post rn) that headcanon that whenever he m*rders someone, he always stares at them through left side profile (where his lame eye is) bc he literally "turns a blind eye to death". it's reasonable to surmise that he's not as sadistic as the other Bonten members and probably joined it just for izana
his. fucking. physique. Kaku is canonically 5'11 in his time skip and he's about a head taller than me (swoon) that's just so attractive to me like pls sir he could manhandle me without breaking a sweat and I'd say thank you
