As someone who's been there, it's our job to get them interested. They're not going to do it by themselves. That's what separates great teachers from good teachers. Anybody can stand up there and spout information, but a great teacher can make it fun
the fact that i was doing it for a grade, was super nervous, and it was someone else’s class might not have helped, but i planned the whole thing counting on people at least answering questions like “do you guys know what this word means?” i got an answer from two students while the rest just stared at me like i was the most boring tv show ever. and that was just in the first five minutes (and if i’m being honest i’m actually glad they were silent instead of talking to each other like i wasn’t even there).
i like to think that if it had been my class or if i had stayed with them since the beginning of the year things might have been different, but up until i was standing in front of a class i never really understood what my past teachers went through
