🖊 heck yeah tell me about some OCs.

Heck yeah! I’ll ramble a little bit about my current MOTW player character. She’s a Monstrous named Ruth, and my DM (my lovely friend @swordsandspectacles) let me play around with what she actually is -- she’s sort of like a hellhound-meets-werewolf/a spectral werewolf sort of deal, that we jokingly call a ‘whatwolf’. Sadbh (Swords) actually did some amazing art of her for me, for my birthday, that I adore to hell and back.

The campaign is set in 1910s Ireland, so we get to meet all sorts of creatures like faries and talking enchanted geese who used to be princes and Dullahans and Banshees (our resident NPC Banshee is actually Ruth’s girlfriend!). It’s been really fun to play so far!

I mean, I think legally you have to ship it at that point. Also, I ship it. So that’s two people, which is a great starting point.

I would actually kind of love the implications if Essek and the CA have VASTLY overblown their own ability to effect change and three days after the beacon exchange King Dwendal and the Bright Queen are like 'actually, fuck this'.

@thischarmingand SAME I just don't trust them at all to maintain this—I think both rulers are trying to save face right now but I think if it's not one thing it's gonna be another eventually and the problem with monarchies (especially with one that's been in charge for centuries???) is that they hold very long grudges. 

I'd actually love to look at the ways Dwendal and Leylas' respective lifespans push them both toward conflict, chiefly with each other. Leylas has seen this over and over again, and is inclined to beat it back, even if preemptively. Dwendal is short-lived and likely suspicious of these reincarnating drow who already live seven times longer than he does, so likely has a bit of an inferiority complex is inclined to prove his nation’s ability to compete on a global scale, especially considering it’s quite possibly younger than Leylas’ current body.

The lifespan thing is a really interesting take on it I hadn't considered. Has it ever been explicitly stated that the Empire's v curated list of approved gods has anything to do with holding back Luxon worship? because it seems like that also makes sense. once any of the subjects in your expansionist manifest destiny minded country get hold of a religion where they can outlive you.... (not that the dynasty is better because oh great religious immortal oligarchy!)

Anyway, Mighty Nein destroy the divine right of emperors challenge I guess. I really hope this backdrop stays messy.

I believe what has been confirmed about the Empire’s approved gods is that they are all lawful leaning, it’s a very law and order list of gods—but I’m sure curbing outside influence from alternative religions is high on their to do list! 

yeah my issue with the dynasty is mostly like... a monarchy? really? that’s a terrible fucking idea when people are ACTUALLY IMMORTAL. like it’s just a bad idea. uriel in all his “wisdom” figured out that monarchy created all sorts of issues in a world wHERE MIND CONTROL IS A THING but the bright queen is still over here ruling for millennia? though I also don’t know that the dynasty is super interested in actual evangelism since one of their issues with expansionism is that all consecuted individuals have to be within range of a beacon—which also simultaneously creates a built-in need for discrimination, which makes the concept of consecution and who gets consecuted verrrrrrry interesting.
