So I was babysitting my 4 year old niece yesterday and I allowed her to put make-up on my face. When she asked if I wanted the pink eyeshadow or the blue one I answered "you choose, do whatever you like" and she didn't even stumble to say "I know that. Everybody can do whatever they like and if you want to have your cheeks green you can do that and if you want to wear a dress and trousers at the same time you can do that too. I did that in Kindergarten and the others made fun of me but I just couldn't choose so I wore both and I like that and everybody should wear trousers and a skirt if they want to, even boys." So if a 4 year old doesn't care about gender roles and society's perception of what you should look and be like, why should anybody else? Seriously I think that's fucking important.
