RELATIVITY FALLS FANDOM
just hear me out (part 1):
The B plot of the Boyz Crazy except Relativity Falls AU so Stan is in Dipper’s role while Carla and Thistle are the Wendy and Robbie except they are all the same age.
So Stan has a crush on Carla but he didn’t have the courage to confess so she goes on and dates Thistle but later on Stan finds one of Thistle’s hippie CDs and comes to the conclusion he is brainwashing Carla with his hippie music and that’s why she is wearing bell bottoms now.
He and Grunkle Dipper (fudge the timeline) rush to inform her about this and find her and Thistle in his parent’s van on a cliff. Carla hears them out and Thistle denies it but she still breaks up with him because it was starting to dawn on her this was a summer fling and he might actually have been using a magical device to woo her.
Stan tries to shoot his shot by asking her out with his Grunkle’s encouragement (Dipper should not be consulted for love advice - that’s Mabel’s job) but Carla rejects him and so Stan pushes the van off the cliff and Thistle now has to dejectedly walk home on foot.
Stan sends Carla flowers every day which she returns. He gets the memo and stops. Things eventually cool off a supernatural adventure happens and they reconcile. If their relationship grows into something more depends on how the rest of their summer goes. Ford and Fiddleford tease Stan about it when they hear Dipper’s recollection of it while they were helping him with one of his experiments.
quick poll to get a general idea of how Gravity Falls fandom feels about Thistle Downe and Carla McCorkle (from Stan's memory in Boyz Crazy)-
Did Thistle Downe hypnotize Carla into dating him?
Yes (Stan was right)
No, but [evil Thistle] (Stan was right about Thistle but not the details)
No, Carla actually liked Thistle (Stan was 100% wrong)
Other??? (tell me your thoughts in the tags!!)
(if you voted "no, but-" or "other" i would LOVE to hear your thoughts, please put them in a reblog or the tags <3 i'm writing an AU that heavily features Carla and one of the main plot arcs is about her relationship with Thistle, and while I'm pretty sure on what I'm gonna do with them, I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on them)
Evil hippie guy
Teen Stan: And then I'll seduce him and she'll regret leaving me when she sees how happy I make him!
Teen Ford, reading his books: Yes, Stanley, that is so...heterosexual. Mh-mh...
Teen Stan: Yeah! No homo! :D
Unpopular g49/Starla opinion? I’m a forever believer idc anymore 😭
(while typing out this post, I totally just realized my timeline may have been off in my last hc post but that's neither here nor there)
I'm also a forever g4g truther. hirsch has mentioned wanting to regain the ip for gravity falls a couple times during the pandemic, and I think that at least part of that has to do with continuing the story with g4g added in. they wrote themselves into such a corner with that baby, and I want to see where they could take it.
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think stan and carla both ended up leaving their kid. I know there's a lot of thoughts about the thistle downe of it all, but if I'm putting carla's decision to leave stan for him in context... carla was a teenage mom who was dating a boy with delusions of grandeur but barely any follow-through. I think she would have been attracted to ideas of leaving her current life behind in favor something nomadic and non-materialistic. so when there's this guy who comes around who tells you things like the best way to live life is to be above forming attachments and to go with the flow, you want to believe him. and unfortunately... lex was just collateral damage.
it’s sleepover saturday!
