Old college try
To anyone in the US who is queer and likes to read, there is an online library that you can get a card to with access to hundreds of books by/for/about queer people!
It's called the Queer Liberation Library! (Linked below)
My current queer book recs:
- What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
- Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott
- An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
- Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle
- Wilder Girls by Rory Power
- Of Monsters and Mainframes by Barbara Truelove
If any of you are looking for a good fall vibes book may I PLEASE convince you to read Thistlefoot by GeenaRose Nethercott!! It’s based on the folktale of Baba Yaga but she’s reimagined as a Jewish mother living in early 1900s Russia, two modern day (queer!) siblings who go on a road trip across America together in a weird house they inherit with chicken feet, and it’s got some of the most beautiful prose I’ve read in a while. Pleaseee read it it’s soo good and I need more people to talk about it with!!

Do I have any idea why someone whose sole interaction with my @slewfootwitch blog seems to have been a single reply on a post I made looking for community with other queer homemakers (which I removed and ignored because I suspected it was someone I had previous negative experience with) has tagged both @slewfootwitch and @thistlefoot in a post alleging that people are chasing them off their blog? Not at all. Someone telling me about that post in my url-tag is the first I've seen that particular blog. However, now that I know it exists, I will happily add it to my block list.
my favourites despite a mediocre reading year
