The Connors have always been a bit of an odd couple, even in the more rural place they lived in they kept to themselves, they had no children and as far as anyone knew no other relatives. They also liked to sell things here and there like fresh vegetables from their garden or repaired machines like clocks or lawn mowers, those were the only times they’ve had guests over that weren’t close friends.
It took a surprising amount of time for people to notice they had gone missing which was a week at least, it was sad really, even if they were odd they were quite nice.
People started talking then since the couple weren’t there to stop them of course. Rumors of the husband, a gruff man who was a workaholic, had given his services to strange, shady people in the past since they paid well and he was desperate for work. The wife, a kind woman who was supposedly a gifted singer, always kept odd books with strange titles and names which if people attempted to read would be quickly distracted by a warm meal. Some said one of the husbands disgruntled customers visited and made them disappear, others said the wife’s books drove them mad and the fled to the woods never to be seen again.
