Tom's a handful, but has good intentions - he promises. Harvey's got a job on his hands trying to keep this Player from fist fighting the mayor, or at least wearing his boxers around town and talking shit all the time.

"What's he gonna do, exile me? My family is the economic backbone of this TOWN. Maybe I should be mayor - I'd handle the tax funds better. A COW would handle the tax funds better." etc etc

Can't believe I didn't post my sdv stuff here, the sdv website.

Thomas Darling Player, the middlest of the Player Cousins who moved into their late grandfather's farm, all looking for some kind of new beginning.

Tom was working as a barista in some hole in the wall coffee shop, stuck in a dead end customer service job when he couldn't find a job to make good use of his sociology degree. His cousins call and invite him to join them, and their grandfather's letter sits heavy on his mind, until one day a rude customer snaps the last of his resolve. Fine. Fine! He'll try something else! Tom puts in his resignation, effective immediately, packs up his life, and disappears out to Pelican Town.

He's not a fighter, but he's a damn good farmhand and single handedly fells and replants an entire forest's worth of trees and picks every single mushroom, vegetable, and flower that dares to grow.

Tom and Caroline make fast friends (on the insistence of his cousins, who are business-minded people), but Harvey catches his eye quickly.

Tom isn't a man with any toxic masculinity, really. He likes wearing flowers in his hair - especially for the Flower Dance.

The irony of the resemblance between him and Pierre isn't lost on Tom when he flirts with the man's wife.

He and his cousin Sally Ann also LOVE to bug their cousin Graham, who is deeply awkward and deeply infatuated with Elliot.

Zane, the baby of the family, isn't old enough to drink yet, so the older three have drinks without him. (He was too deep in the mines, the pyromaniac.)

There's a whole playlist for my SDV farmer Thomas, but Good To Be by Mark Ambor is THE character song for him. Followed quickly by Yes I'm A Mess by AJR

It's very reminiscent of the day he decides to leave his dead end barista job and move to Pelican Town - being reminded that he's got a loving family with a new horizon there waiting for him to get his ass in gear and start the day again.

So he makes himself a coffee, quits on the spot, and heads out to pack his shit into his beaten up Mercedes and and start driving without telling anyone in Zuzu City what he's doing, where he's going, etc. He doesn't need those friends from the coffee shop, doesn't owe them anything, and won't need references to be a farmer. He's burnt out and content burning bridges on his way out.
