A quick look at the microphone setup used for the drum tracking for @w_i_r_e_s this past weekend at @bigegostudios. Thomas Pridgen behind the kit. A couple changes to what’s in this clip - a Shure Beta 52 was added to the kick for more low end capture. Also the snare drum was switched out. A mono room mic was placed in the larger live room to capture the spill ambience. A very minimal setup! 👌 Kick 1 - Beyerdynamic M88 Kick 2 - Shure Beta 52 Snare - Electro Voice Re38 (cool mic!!) Floor Tom - AKG 414EB HiHat - Neumann KM184 Ride - Coles 4038 Center/Fill - Beyerdynamic M88 Room - Shure KSM32 All mics were fed into an @audientworld 4816 console for the preamp stage and recorded onto a @iztechnologycorp Radar System. A bit of eq was used on the desk, ‘going to tape.’ The Center/Fill mic went to an @overstayerpics Saturator and I sometimes also had it patched into a @dbx_pro 160A compressor.
