In a fantasy tale where magic is a resource created by the natural world, gods, beings blessed who can create their own magic sources, walk among mortals. Logic, an inventor and warrior, alongside Lime, one of the gods of life, are members of an elite group of warriors, trying to defeat the evil Withers, gods of decay, from destroying all the world. While they manage to seal away the withers, their defeat leads to them splitting apart, forever.

Now, twenty years later, Thomas, an astrologist, has had his village destroyed by a new group of withers, a duo. Only he was kept alive, spared, while hugging his handmade dolls of two former legates. Alongside a queen of frogs, a cat tracker, a fun minstrel, an enchanted bowtie artifact, and an ordinary gardener, he journeys throughout the land to hunt down the withers once again, and save the world.

While many of the former Legates are retired or in hiding, Lime and Logic are discovered to be a traveling duo. With reluctance, and after several chance meetings, they agree to help stop the withers and take up the name of Legacy once again.

Thomas leads the group to the heart of the Withers, their temple and source of magic, a desolate wasteland cold as ice. He is confused by how the closest village to this recognizes Lime and Logic. Not confused enough to believe the suspicions of his groupmates, and the group splits up, Kim and the new legates staying in the village, with Thomas going to the temple with Lime and Logic.

A mistake, it would seem, as the truth of Lime and Logic are revealed. Logic had been captured by the withers in his adventuring, forced to swear loyalty as one of their gods. Lime had been captured by Logic after, a reluctant servant to their evil. Thomas would be their third, the final key in their plan to raze the world and overtake the other temples. And they wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Lead by Kim, however, the other legates wouldn’t abandon Thomas that easily. But the temple of the withers has a terrible secret. While any could enter, only one with the powers blessed by the withers could open the doors to escape. The six realize their error, and prepare to be killed by the approaching Logic and Lime.

Lime, who finally takes a stand against Logic, opening the door for their escape as the temple collapses around them. And Logic, shocked, doesn’t even try to stop the seven from escaping. And Lime, at the last moment, turning back to Logic and hugging him as the withers collapse, finally, completely.

Thomas and the others are alive to bear the mantle of Legacy. There is more evil in the world. And they know they will continue onward, to be the Legates.
