An Unfortunate First Meeting // Thorki
In which Loki is Odin's only son and future King of Asgard and Thor is a Jotun that he meets when he rides out to fight his kind one day.
------
Loki helped his father fight against the frost giants attacking their borders countless of times, never failing his role as the future King of Asgard to fight for their people. The attacks are always brutal and there is no mercy for any of those monsters in Loki when he hauls himself into battle alongside their warriors, daggers up his sleeves and magic floating through his veins. He's one of Asgard’s most skilled sorcerers and his trickery is legendary amongst the nine realms.
When he rides out once more with Odin and the warriors, Loki expects a fight no different than those they have fought over the years. The frost giants have targeted one of their outposts again, a small one fortunately, but they can't risk losing it. After a short briefing with his father, Loki disappears to prepare his attack on the group of monsters nearby.
Something is different this time, Loki can feel it but he doesn't know what it's supposed to mean. The frost giants don't really seem to fight at all, they are just standing there - six, maybe seven of them - as if they are waiting for something. Loki hides in the shadows of some trees, observing them suspiciously. In his confusion and concentration on the group, Loki doesn't notice the footsteps behind him until it's too late and can't evade the forceful blow that literally sends him flying into the air.
Loki crashes against a tree, hitting it hard enough to make him wail in pain and when he drops to the ground, he lands so unfortunate on his arm that the sound of breaking bones rings in his ears. Disoriented and writhing in pain, Loki grits his teeth and forces himself up, trying to make out his attacker through his flickering vision. All he can see is the tall figure walking towards him though, blue skin and for some reason a mane of blond hair on his head.
“You'll pay for this,” Loki hisses and makes a step forward, ready to keep fighting until his very last breath. His vision has cleared enough to actually see his attacker now, or maybe it's just because he's much closer than before, Loki doesn't know.
The frost giant grins at Loki, over his shoulder what looks like a huge hammer. He's bigger than Loki, much bigger and yet not as huge as the other frost giants he has seen in the past. He doesn't look like any other of his kind Loki has fought either, his face much less harsh and ugly than he is used to. Loki has never seen a frost giant with blond hair, but all of that is just distraction and he knows it.
As unusual as this frost giant may look, he's still the same as those other monsters and Loki won't let anything distract him from ending them all the same way he ended hundreds before. A dagger appears in his hand as he switches back into his fighting stance, ignoring the pain in his other arm and back.
Suddenly, the frost giant’s grin widens and before Loki even knows what’s happening he’s swiped off his feet when he swings his hammer again. Loki gasps and tries to roll to the side, but a brutal grip around his ankle prevents any way to escape.
“Let me go, you monster!” Loki yells, only to be lifted into the air upside down as if he's nothing but some hunted prey. The frost giant looks at him smugly, red eyes locking with Loki's green ones. For a moment, all Loki can do is look at this strange creature, his defeat boiling up the anger in his chest so much he wants to cut that grin off his face.
“I’m not a monster,” the frost giant's says with a deep, rumbling voice that sends chills down Loki's spine - or up, given his current situation. “I’m Thor.”
Loki huffs and spits at the frost giant with every last bit of disgust he has in him.
“I don't care for your name,” he hisses as the other wipes his face. “I will kill you and the rest of your kind, monster!”
“Fine, plan b then,” the frost giant sighs and the next second, before he can even form a single word of protest, Loki's vision turns black as he's knocked unconscious.
So much for being Asgard’s future king, Loki thinks before he blacks out, not knowing how or if he's going to get out of this alive.
Behind The Crimson Door // Thorki!AU
“At night there's music coming from inside.”
“The lights flicker when it's dark but no one lived there for years.”
“I've seen a shadow move behind the windows, I swear!”
They think the old house at the end of town, half decayed on the outside and with a wilderness around it that had once been a majestic garden, is haunted. Behind the door that is painted in a blood-like crimson red, everyone believes lies the worst. Ghosts, they say. Evil spirits, they say. Thor doesn't believe any of this.
Ghosts don't exist and evil spirits? No, they belong to the world of imagination as much as vampires and werewolves do. And he will prove to them once and for all that there is nothing to be afraid of. It's just an old house, nothing else. Thor is not afraid, he's not superstitious or jumps at the sight of his own shadow.
Armed with a flashlight and his common sense, Thor sneaks into the house through the basement door one night. The lock is broken, smashed from some teenagers breaking in a few years ago for a dare. It's completely dark down there and it takes a while until Thor finds the stairs. Other than old furniture and some offensive graffities nothing unusual is down here.
As soon as Thor enters the house itself, however, he stops in surprise. There is music, a soft and quiet melody that lingers in the air. Thor frowns and follows the sound through the kitchen and the corridor. The music comes from the room in front of him, but suddenly Thor doesn't feel as confident as before anymore. There shouldn’t be music and there shouldn't be this strange cold that he starts to feel, this isn't right.
Still, his curiosity - and partially his need to prove himself - gets the better of him and finally, Thor steps into the room.
Thor doesn't need his flashlight. The moon shines through the large windows, illuminating the man sitting at the piano perfectly. He's tall and pale, long black hair falling over his shoulders and his clothes anything but old and worn. He looks almost elegant and very handsome. The man's fingers stop moving over the keys and he slowly turns his eyes. Thor can hear his own heart beat when he looks into the pale green that looks nothing like any eyes he has ever seen before.
“You should not be here,” the man says quietly and stands up. “Leave, before it's too late.”
“Are you a ghost?” Thor asks against his better judgement, earning a soft and half amused smile.
“I am very alive,” the stranger says, walking over to Thor. It takes the other a moment to realize that something about the way this man walks isn't normal, but he can't say what it is. It just doesn't feel natural somehow. “And if you wish to stay alive too you should turn around and never look back. Forget this place."
Thor knows he probably should, but he can't move an inch. Up close he can see the almost porcelain skin of the man and his eyes… his eyes aren’t pale anymore. They are like emeralds sprinkled with gold and Thor is completely smitten by the sight alone.
“Unless… you'd like to stay for dinner…”
Thor wants to scream when the man opens his mouth and he notices the sharp teeth, but there is no sound coming from him. All he can feel anymore is the soft and tender fingers wrap around his neck and then his vision turns black.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come here after all.

When the man entered his hut, Loki could already smell the curse lingering in the air, dooming the man to a painful, torturous and slow death. It had been years since anyone came to him, but then again most of those that had come by had been even closer to death than they knew. Coming to Loki, the last witch in the northern forests, was a desperate act and rarely paid off. This man, however, sparked his interest.
“You are dying,” Loki stated coldly as he walked over to the stranger. He gripped his chin with his long, slender fingers, turning his head around to examine him. “You don’t have much time left.”
“That’s why I came to you.” The man’s voice was melodic and dark and Loki smirked at the sound. “The villagers told me you were able to help me.”
“My help isn’t free, it has a price,” Loki murmured, fingers slowly trailing along the man’s jawline. “And it’s more than most people can afford to pay.”
