Okay guys, I do have a Star Trek thing coming, it just takes time to formulate the entire thing, but anyway!
I’m on a Sherlock Holmes kick right now, like one does every year, and I realized that Mary from The Sign Of Four (who as everyone knows marries Watson), is actually considered a thornback.
I only found this out because I wanted to know what is the spinster age requirements. I looked up online what that would be and Mary is not at the correct age for that title. It’s much worse.
To be in receivement of that title you have to be from the ages 23 to 26.
She is actually of the thornback age, which constitutes people who are 26 and above. 
Also, there is a segment in the Sign of Four where Watson does say that Mary is 27 and he prefers that over a 17-year-old; according to him, 10 years makes a large difference in how a person acts and behaves and the man be right.
