the Star Wars RPG retconning the Bane trilogy's Thought Bomb from being an ancient sith ritual to being something Bane developed using Revan's knowledge of the Nathema ritual is genuinely one of the rare retcons in Legends that I fully support and makes more narrative sense.
The Thought Bomb being an ancient sith ritual made for war makes no sense, it's a suicide bomb that can only be detonated by powerful sith lords who consent to its use, and then tortures their souls for all eternity. Even the ancient sith (especially the ancient sith) weren't THAT petty and devoted to screwing over Jedi that they'd sacrifice themselves and be tormented for eternity just to make them suffer.
Bane developing it from the Nathema Ritual (which did actually serve a purpose and benefited the Sith using it) but designing it specifically to screw over the caster as well makes much more sense given that he wanted it to wipe out the Brotherhood of Darkness.
the retcon turned the Thought Bomb from something that makes you ask why in the world someone would make this, to an act of intentional sabotage.
