Tonight I realized that my new safe space to clear my head in Boston is my sister's bathtub. I've been looking for a place of isolation since I've moved, and not having access to a car and open highway has taken it's toll. But tonight, as I sat soaking, breathing in clove and tangerine, I realized this has become my new processing space. Even my sister knows, and offers it up to me after a particularly hard week or day. Especially after the last week... Alone with my thoughts... is much needed.
Could you marry a poor boy having no desire other than sidrat al muntaha? Could you manage to dedicate your life to something that will only ripen in the next? Does a masjid on the moon, mars, and beyond the milkyway sound unreasonable to you? Truly - "Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, apparent and unapparent?...." (31;20)
SubhanAllah indeed.
Each day I learn something new, I can’t help but be fascinated by His wisdom and indebted to His grace. Even within our bodies, relatively insignificant in the context of this universe, there are numerous things and systems working in our interest. Verily, we are utterly unaware of the means that Allah has provided for our safety, protection and proper development and functioning. Then the way He provides for us, sustains us and ensures our wellbeing, it’s partially apparent, partially unapparent to us, is it not? Each day we learn more, we discover. The dissection of a cadaver or a simple visit to the museum and your tongue unintentionally utters subhanAllah, Alhamdulilah for His favors and blessings which have so far made apparent are insignificant compared to the ones that are yet unapparent.
